In one day, we spent way too much money on home office chairs, our mayor got the Cove, and Cam’s friends on a different 7th Grade team got zoombombed with porn. Peak 2020 (I hope).

Blew it. Wife and mother tried to talk me out of the study. Between that and reading up on the candidate I waited 24hrs. Emailed yesterday no response. Sent in consent and they said the last seat was taken the day prior. Now I know. Run and get that mfer if they call. Apparently that wont be the last chance so maybe for the best.

Does my daughter's best friend's live-in boyfriend count? No, he didn't hear anything about Ferris, but he has tested positive.

This result came out *after* my daughter spent four days with the best friend, including sleepovers and lots of time in the car.

Fun times. My daughter is now in isolation at our house (she's 17). My wife and I are still at our summer place, but I have had just enough recent contact with the daughter that I consider myself a marginal contamination risk. And that makes my wife very nervous. (So I'm sleeping on the couch, and not for the usual reasons.)

Yeah, I had one the other day and it was quite a bit hotter than I expected. And Shake Shack's fries are really good. Five Guys has better burgers, but Shake Shack has better fries.

Okay ... so my daughter tested positive. She is still fine, with only mild symptoms. My wife and I also don't have any symptoms, but we've been directed to quarantine for 14 days. We spent a lot of time on the phone yesterday with the County Health Dept contact tracer lecturing us to stay inside etc.

I've moved into my son's bedroom (he has an apartment now for school). My wife and I are both wearing masks whenever we're both in the same area of the house, I'm wearing gloves whenever I do anything downstairs, we're regularly disinfecting surfaces and doorknobs, etc. Meanwhile the daughter is alone at our house, ordering crappy food through Doordash and *hopefully* following the quarantine rules herself.

I think we're still okay to go hiking on the neighborhood trails, and we rarely see people socially so isolating isn't going to be a problem, but the food/grocery situation for us and for my daughter is going to be a pain in the ass.

Now he's mad that the school pulled his daughter out of her volleyball game because he has COVID. But he's also genuinely concerned for his wife who now has symptoms but doesn't have her results back yet.

Do grocery stores by you have delivery services? Most of the larger stores here do, and it's working really well now. They have most items they sell in the store and leave it by your friend door, so no contact.

No. I'm not unique, but people who change their views because now it affects them infuriate me. Like I knew a guy in college who was against gay marriage but conceded if he had a gay child maybe he'd reconsider. And Nancy Reagan and stem cells. The worst.

Yeah, I do get that, but FWIW, we rarely even see anyone on these trails (our favorites aren't even official trails, just paths in the woods). And we are always wearing masks (now), and there is plenty of room to move aside if we do come across someone. And we have to walk the dog anyway - we're more likely to run into someone walking him in the neighborhood.

We just hiked about two and a half miles this morning - masked up, in the sunshine - and didn't come across a single other person.

Our local grocery store doesn't have delivery, but they have curbside pickup. I should be able to do that without coming anywhere near anyone.

You've been directed to quarantine. Do it out of respect for other people instead of looking for any loophole you can.

I came home from Milwaukee early last month because my father-in-law died. I couldn't hug my wife, but I wanted to at least be at home with her. After getting home, I stayed by myself in our bedroom (which she moved out of that day) with one exception even though I had gotten negative results on each of my previous seven daily tests. And the following morning, I got my result that I tested negative about 90 minutes before leaving Milwaukee.

I was also fortunate in that the at-home COVID test I was supposed to take before leaving arrived at my house 5 1/2 hours after I left. So, I left the bedroom to go to my office to get closer to our wi-fi signal so I wouldn't lose the signal when I took the test. And then I went back into our bedroom and stayed there until I got the results back.

And all that was because I was coming from a place with a with a high positive test rate and the state of New York instructed me to self-quarantine, but they weren't going to check on me (they didn't even know I had left or come back) and I hadn't come into contact with anyone who was positive.

I’m gonna split the difference and saying walking outside (as long as it’s a VERY untrafficked area is OK as long as you are wearing a mask the entire time. That’s critical since it should make transmission all but impossible if you can remain distanced from anyone.

Just gonna add it’s ridiculous we don’t have same-day or instant testing yet. That would alleviate almost all these issues and cut transmission WAY down.

The test I took got us results in less than four hours. It claimed to be on the approval list but I could never determine the exact test control number to verify. Anyway no one in Massachusetts asked us for results.
