But outside the track on Sunday, vehicles waving and flying Confederate flags lined the boulevard running past the massive speedway, and a plane flew above the track towing a banner of the Confederate flag that read, "Defund NASCAR."

This was a nice moment. (I honestly don't think it was a driver who put the noose there, but I can't help wondering if it was one of those people from the other teams' pit crews that were walking behind him who did it. I hope NASCAR is able to locate the coward who did it.)

Odds are that it is, I would think. Someone cited on twitter that, due to COVID-19, the pit areas have much more restricted access than usual. Besides driver/team-affiliated people, there is access for security, track staff (management, maintenance, cleaning, etc.), media, and that's probably close to it.

The thing of it is that it basically had to be an inside job. And I would think these teams would be very protective of their cars and have cameras in their garages.

That's why I gotta think they'll track down who did it. Seen a lot of dipshits suggesting it was a Jussie Smollett type situation, which is angering not the least of which is because that asshole staging his attack gives the bigots an excuse when stuff like this happens.

Yeah, I think that's why Marty Smith was so emotional/pissed off last night. It pretty much had to be crew member or someone on the inside.
I mean, just looking at the odds and the background of guys drawn into racing (and, like this is America) you would've been foolish or naive to think that not one single person involved with NASCAR had racist tendencies.
But to hang a fucking noose?
And the fact that it happened and there are cameras everywhere... This inside person knows that, so... They're either incredibly stupid, or more likely knew how to do this and go undetected or identified.

Even as far as being a racist piece of shit goes, a noose seems top level.
Premier League club Burnley has condemned a plane towing a banner declaring "White Lives Matter Burnley" that flew over Manchester City's Etihad Stadium before Monday's match between the two clubs.
"Burnley Football Club strongly condemns the actions of those responsible for the aircraft and offensive banner that flew over The Etihad Stadium on Monday evening," a statement released on the club's website at half-time said.

Within like 20 minutes the twitter detectives had the plane ID and company.

Best case scenario frankly. (If everything is true.)

So Nascar knew about the noose since October. I imagine so did the speedway. Yet Wallace was still assigned garage 4?

Lil' Rhody got a name change. You can no longer say it has the smallest area and longest state name. Well, still the smallest area.
ETA: Guess it's not "official" though imagine it will be before too long.

I had no idea that was Rhode Island's official name.

Sound like is a garage door pull. There's one on every garage door there but that one happened to be tied this way. Garages are assigned based on points ranking so there's no way anyone would have known back in October that Wallace would get this garage. That rope would have unnoticed for years if this coincidence hadn't happened.

Saw this today in a nearby grocery store - it caters to a very multi-ethnic area, large Italian, Russian, Jewish and Portuguese aisles.

Okay, I get the assignment by points, but if NASCAR and the raceway knew about a reported noose back in October, why wouldn't the management company have someone fix it? Still very shady to me, but obviously not as bad as it would have been had the FBI found it to be an actual noose hung for the purpose of being Wallace's garage.

Because of the gross deceit from this administration, I frankly have a hard time believing the FBI here. I get they are "independent", but I seriously wouldn't put it past them that they had reasons to sweep this under the rug.

I think i saw a picture from the race last year that showed the noose. I'll see if I can dig it up. Also, check the Jeopardy champions thread!

So having grown up in an area with a lot of detatched garages and workshops, I have seen these numerous times as garage door pulls. It is definitely the noose knot, though. Both things can be true. It just happens that knot has a terrible history and also is useful for certain everyday situations. Now, it seems like NASCAR tracks should have better technology than an eastern kentucky workshop.

Sex act.
It involves drinking a gallon of mountain dew and telling your wife you can't have sex because of the diabeetus.
And then power tools?

jesus christ no dude what the hell
I'm not going to get into this here -- there are plenty of places where I have gotten into it that you know where to find -- but the last 24 hours are like the exact opposite of sweeping something under the rug
