I've decided to give Boxer another serious listen. I downloaded it 5-10 years ago because of all the love it got here, and I just didn't get into it. Every song sounds the same. I listened to Sad Songs for Dirty Lovers, too, and felt the same way.

Remember that in that era, no word was used more than "grower" to describe their albums. Its since become "dad", but Boxer - High Violet was peak grower times. Let it grow, Syb.

Yes, grower meaning you like it more the 10th time than the 1st, and love it the 20th. Dad meaning now no reviewer can mentioned them without using the term "dad rock, "sad dads" and talking about the members being dads.

So this is a twist, but this is Sabo's list. Inexplicably, 3 Feet High and Rising is not on Spotify, so you'll have to watch the youtube video for the first song, then switch to spotify.

Whew.
LINER NOTES
1. Reaching deeper for the next Beasties track. Probably would have gone Maestro until it became the Rodman song. It still rules, but let's showcase this one just in case I happen to lose. Also makes for a good opener.
2. Didn't actually know who Juliana Hatfield was until about 5 years later. Thanks, terrible girlfriend with good taste.
3. This aged better than I thought. Light and breezy fun as only Cube could do...
4. Oh shit. I glazed right over this whole album in Round 1 but come on. 500 shitty American Idol covers later and the crescendo still brings it.
5. Hovered over STP and almost went back to the AIC well again, but let's go slightly off course for my alt-grunge spot. This sounds like the best version of every 2010s emo song.
6. Welcome to the early 90s, where even the comedown song in the penultimate spot is way heavy.
7. Repeat an album I already used AND move the song from it's leadoff spot to the end? What's next, an unheard-of governor wins the White House??

Was not expecting to see anything from "Congregation" appear, no matter how long this things went on, and "Conjure Me" i's probably about the middle of the road for that album.
