Great game. My math had us at a tie, so I was disappointed to see the scoreboard.

Of course my Bryce Drew answer was the big points. Valpo was our big rival in college, that was my senior year. My future Best Man was co-founder of Buffalo's Sixth Man Club. We sat right behind Valpo's bench. We rode Homer Drew (Bryce's father and coach) all game, then after the game he came up in the stands and thanked us for creating such a great atmosphere, shook my friend's hand and said this is what college basketball should be all about. Such a cool moment, because I thought we were annoying pricks, and he was so genuine and appreciative. Agree. Terrell Davis doesn't belong either. Slippery slope to electing too many guys with really short careers or careers derailed by injuries.

Like if Mike Trout lost a leg tomorrow he should be a first-ballot Hall of Famer. But Terrell Davis having three admittedly really good seasons (with the best OL in football using blocking techniques that are largely illegal now) isn't even close to the same thing, even accounting for how much shorter careers are in football.

But never averaged over 19.7 ppg after his age 27 season. That said I forgot the basketball HOF was college too so he definitely gets in that career included.

Yeah but. Plenty of folks have been dominant in college so that's not determinative to me. Maybe not the duration of his run at Duke but more than offset by the tremendous talent around him so I need to see more than NBA early playoff exits and a couple of seasons before youre HOF.

My point is that Terrell Davis and Bo Jackson aren't good comparisons for a guy who played 18 professional seasons, even if his post-Detroit career wasn't HOF-worthy on its own.

He's also still one of the top 100 scorers in NBA history and one more season in his prime puts him around the top 50. A two-time All-American, 7-time All-Star, Gold Medal Olympian is not where I would start cutting the line

He has a better case on NBA stats alone than a few of the other answers to that question, Isiah Thomas for one.
