Eight months ago, the Blackhawks had both Robin Lehner and Corey Crawford in goal. They've now decided that next season they are moving on and going with new young blood.

So, either they think the unproven young guys are ready to keep them in the playoffs right now, or they are going for the full rebuild (which might not please Toews and Kane).

Thornton being linked with VGK after Stastny traded to WPG. I think VGK will elect to just go with some combination of Glass/Stephenson at that second/third center position but the idea of Thornton getting a Stanley Cup with VGK and what it would do to sancarlos is pretty funny.

I’d be shocked if that came to fruition. But I’m a big Thornton fan so I’d be very happy for him if he won a Cup, anywhere.

I do know he got on well with De Boer, so there is a bit of logic to it.

Hall has always said that Krueger was his favourite coach he's played for. Obviously that's the initial draw; playing with Eichel/Reinhart/Skinner is a pretty outstanding top 4 suddenly. 1 year i see him as hedging his bets - if shit (again) hits the fan for the Sabres he can go elsewhere. Win-win.
