I think a lot of people just don't pay as much attention as we do.
This. And many of those folks basically think that taxes and crime are always going up - even though they're both historically low right now - and so a Republican message of "we won't coddle criminals" and "we won't raise your taxes" appeals to them.
It's the Republicans 4 pillars
Crime
Taxes
Guns
Religion

The intelligence bulletin, titled “Russia Likely to Denigrate Health of U.S. Candidates to Influence 2020 Election,” was drafted to inform state and local law enforcement officials that Russian state media agencies were posting “allegations about the poor mental health of 2020 Democratic presidential candidate Joe Biden,” ABC News first reported on Wednesday.
But before the bulletin was distributed, senior Homeland Security officials intervened to halt publication, department officials confirmed.

You left out abortion and racism.
Abortion is religion. Racism is a new Republican talking point so maybe a 5th pillar. It wasn't long ago that the Republicans were for free trade and immigration (economical immigration) and the Democrats were the protectionists. Remember it's about wealthy immigration with Republicans, none of this family reunification or refugee shit.

Yeah, abortion is #1.
Totally agree with this. Some of the smartest Republicans I know sincerely believe that opposition to abortion is an issue of the utmost moral significance. If that’s how you truly feel, it’s easy to justify a vote for even a terrible Republican like Trump who will appoint right-wing justices.

Well, we won't have to worry about reading about the politicization of our Intelligence agencies to benefit our criminal President, as they decided they are no longer briefing Congress on threats to election security. So not only will we not know about foreign security threats our government allows to go unchecked, but Congress won't know, either! Several Dems on the Intel Committee were absolutely livid over what they've been briefed, but they aren't allowed to reveal the info for fear of giving up sources and methods. They were publicly demanding the information be released. It wasn't. Pretty sure they aren't even allowed to brief other Senators.

Same here. About the only thing you can say to these people is that reducing abortions requires voting for Democrats because more expansive birth control policies lead to fewer unplanned pregnancies and because better financial support for those in need makes women less likely to feel that they need an abortion.
But that doesn't really work.

Considering my mom's been breaking our no politics rule and spouting off the whole "only sick people are dying of COVID" crap, I'm about to say "you should see how many of these fetuses would be alive if they didn't have a precondition of being attached to the mother". I'm doing a good job of ignoring her since I know she doesn't have my dad around to talk to all day about stuff like this, but it's getting difficult to continue to do that.

Amazing how many people are falling for this "9,000 died from COVID"thing. I bet you could post the most nonsensical made up fact about COVID, and if it made Trump look less incompetent, it'd go viral.

Turns out "Shut up and die, olds" is maybe not an effective re-election strategy during a pandemic.
This is a REAL problem for Trump.
My concern is that older people, especially those who are more likely to believe the virus isn't a hoax and are more likely to vote Biden, will rely on mail in voting, and I really fear the USPS sabotaging votes, not delivering on time, or the "red mirage," where in-person votes will make it look like Trump has a lead on election night, and a week later when mail in is counted, Biden wins and Trump declares proof of fraud. Either way, I don't see a peaceful resolution to the election.

So this house is either a work or an actively hot battleground. We noticed yesterday that the flags have changed, and the new “Veterans for Trump” flag upstairs has been matched by two “Veterans Against Trump” flags downstairs.

Rick Snyder may be the Republican weasel who helped cause the Flint water crisis. But I’ve got to believe his endorsement helps Biden a lot in a key swing state.
I just saw this poll.. I know blah to polls, but this really caught my attention especially with Texas having such a huge military and former military there..
Just say if trump loses what will happen? Alot of people think he will resign, I don't see that. I do fear him and his cronies doing alot of shit in their last 2 and a half months in charge.
I'm sure he'll be pushed to resign 3 days prior to inauguration after a bunch of fuckery during his lame duck shit. Pence will pardon his whole crime enterprise. Just seems to fit everything.

I think/hope he’d resign in exchange for federal and state pardons for himself and Ivanka.

I don't think Texas will be in play until/unless it gets a Democratic governor who works really hard to ensure fair access to polling places. I would bet that the Democratic votes statewide are heavily concentrated in urban Houston, Dallas, San Antonio and Austin. Those are all very large cities, but if you don't give them enough voting locations and voting machines, a lot of people won't be able to wait in hours-long lines, and conservatives in the rural and suburban areas will carry the day.
What the Dems should be doing in places like Texas is taking out a shitload of ads and encouraging early voting. It's not hard to figure it out, you just have to know it's an option. There should be phone banks and that's where the GOTV efforts should be focused.
Waiting in long lines on Nov 3 is for suckers.

Toyota, AAC, and AT&T arenas are all very big and in urban areas.
Purely anecdotal, but I'm seeing way more Biden signs in places I've never seen Democrat signs before. Namely Sun City, one of the largest retirement communities in the country. Even though my Mom still doesn't seem to care, it seems like some of these older people don't like their lives being so irrelevant to the GOP.

My biggest concern in March was a pandemic ravaging a population of mostly uninsured people with no savings. Even insured people have been getting screwed and yet I've only seen like 2 articles on this. It's gonna be a huge issue eventually.
Telling people to get back to work while sticking them with $100,000 in hospital bills if they need a respirator is insane.
