Shirley wrote: Wed May 12, 2021 6:51 pm Man that Chelsea-Arsenal game was frustrated. Chelsea completely dominated, but lost 1-0 due to a horrific back-pass-that-was-very-nearly-an-awful-own-goal from Jorginho. Seriously, Arsenal looked like one of the worst teams Chelsea's played all year, but Chelsea couldn't put it in the net (well, other than the time Pulisic actually did but was offsides). Bah, soccer can be frustrating.
That was a mirror image of half of Arsenal’s games this year, and it was more boring and only a little less frustrating being on the opposite end. I forgot to record, so I missed the first 35 minutes and the goal, but the rest was horrible. My friend told me Arsenal won, so I was pissed when Pulisic’s goal was overturned.

I hate to say it, but I really like watching Chelsea now. Havertz annoys we with his whiny punchable face every time he trips over a blade of grass or get hip checked in the box. Also annoying that they have 6 guys who look like Pulisic from a wide angle shot. And I can’t help but still root for Giroud and his meaty French forehead.

I've been bitching about the lookalike thing for a couple of years now. It's very annoying. They should all be forced to dye their hair or something.

This is the apparently the pic they used to disallow Chilwell's 89th minute equalizer in the FA Cup final today. Off by his hand, I suppose. But look at the ball, it's already off of Silva's foot! So ridiculous.

Oh, and this is how Leicester won the ball that they scored their goal on. No review.

Spurs season could still be saved - as long as they don;t finish 7th and if they can push West Ham into the Godforsaken Europa Conference league (7th place)

Because at the end of the day, fuck West Ham.

Wednesday: Liverpool @ Burnley
Sunday: Leicester vs Tottenham, Liverpool vs Palace, Chelsea @ Aston Villa

So we're guaranteed to have something to watch this weekend. Tottenham should win tomorrow then tank out for the good of everyone.

If I'm counting right, I think Chelsea has had 7 goals removed due to VAR or late offsides flags in the last 4 games. I'm not saying any of the calls were necessarily wrong (although the Chilwell one in the FA Cup Final was suspect), but man is it frustrating.

A fitting symbol of this team. Reguilon, along with Ndombele, Bergwijn, LoCelso, Sessengnon, Aurier, Doherty were expensive signings that were going to rejuvenate this team. Every single one of them has disappointed. Is it coaching? Scouting? I suspect it's a bit of both, but mainly the latter.

Many Spurs fans scream about Daniel Levy's cheapness, but that's not the problem. The team spent a lot of money over the past 2 years and bought a bunch of glorified scrubs. It's not a matter of spending, it's a matter of spending well.

When Bale (who is now clearly passed it) was sold 8 years ago, Spurs bought a bunch of heavily hyped players. Other than Cristian Ericksen, they sucked. This crop of signings is horrid. Spurs ended up running a young, slow centre back out on the right side because Aurier and Doherty were so bad. And this Reguilon has had a couple of decent games, but he came in so heavily hyped after 30 games on loan to Sevilla who clearly don't miss him. He also set up Villa's second goal.

With Kane leaving, I can say that this team needs to be gutted. Problem is - the off-season is three months long and the Euros are taking up a month of that.

Thinking 12th next season.

Majority of those were brought in under Mourinho. Let's maybe wait and see what a competent manager can do with them.

The defender actually had quite a bit of time, he could have taken a touch and then launched it clear, or even passed it back to the keepers right, which was relatively clear.

7th place was the worst possible finish. That Conference League is a fucking nightmare.

I was actually pulling for Leicester to tie the game at the end just so that horrible slog would be the Gunners' issue.

Just have to content myself with the fact that even though it was the worst season imaginable for Spurs, at least they're still better than Arsenal.

Just play the kids. Make it their competition to win. It'll be an adventure as they go to places like Moldova and Azerbaijan. If they do well, don't get greedy and put in the pros, let the kids ride it out.

The rumours that fly around the British media during the off seasons are insane.

Anything is better than Mourinho, but a lot of the current Spurs team stopped performing under Pocchetino. What will PSG ask in return?

If the BeIN guys are to be believed, not much. Lots of chatter during sunday's game that it's been a disappointing season, given crashing out of CL, and losing Ligue Un. Seems nuts to me, but who knows?

Saw an article that if you took away all of the goals awarded/taken away through VAR, Arsenal would have finished in 4th place. Not vouching for the accuracy of that article, but it certainly felt like Arsenal was on the bad end of a lot of VAR overturned goals.

Being an EPL manager for most teams, Barca manager, PSG coach, and some Championship teams that are spending for promotion must feel like being an MLB manager under Steinbrenner.

Alli has been bad for three years. Not "average" but waste of space level poor.
