Have been playing pretty loose to start and was giving up chips. However, managed to get back above the starting chip stack by going all in with someone who was trying to muscle the table around. Based on a few hands Iost to him and another guy. This table probably thinks I am a yahoo who does not care too much. Now time to go back to weak-tight.

Called down someone chasing a flush who missed and made them pay while chasing and am up to $70,000 early. Best start I have had to one of these.

Nice. Like wlu, I've been kind of aggressive with the small blinds so far and have been leaking a bit. Nothing major. I recently hit a run of semi-playable hands that kept getting reraised, knocking me out preflop.

Got moved to a table with MacBond21. Can't remember if that is the old swamper or just another MacBond.

One guy hung in until the River and then bailed. Made $7k on it. Meh.

I've now gone 8 straight hands without a 10 or higher. And only one 9 in there.

Time for the bluff all-in shove. Can't lose.

up to 87400. 47th place. Wonder if I could have taken more chips on the last hand if I did not wimp out.

I'm still floundering, slowly losing my stack. My run of single-digit cards made it to ten hands. I finally got pocket tens a couple of hands ago, but lost to a pair of jacks. This just isn't my year.

I just won a hand I had no business winning. Poorly played by someone else...

I had just gotten moved to a new table and wanted to test it so I raised from mid position with suited J8. Bullshit raise from early position but I was up some in chips, so whatevs. I got two late callers. Flop comes AQJ (H D D) - so i paired the J but otherwise not a great flop - it missed my being suited. But fuck it, I bluffed and led out a $5000 raise. Got one caller and one fold.

Next card was 8D giving me two pair. Now flush possibility is on the board so I checked. He checked back. Last card a 6. I checked - he bet $5000 and I figured , fuck it, if he’s on Ace rag I am still good or KQ etc.

He turned over KK and my two pair J8 is good.

How in the fuck he flatted my min raise with KK is just insane. If he re-raises I get the fuck out. In any event, thanks to that dude for a net $15 K pot...

Now at $82,700

He tried to slow-play his kings before the flop, then probably felt he was behind you when you bet after the flop, putting you on something like A-9 suited (you probably would have bet more after the flop with top pair plus something else, like a straight draw). Since you weren't overly aggressive after that, he probably felt he was behind from there on out and figured he was committed on the river.

Yup. The slow play of his kings was delightful...

MacBond gave me a table talk "Ribbit Ribbit" when were head-to-head on a hand....so I raised him and he folded like a teenager working at GAP.

Had A A with only MacBond in the hand with me. Just played it soft and flopped another A. First to act and just raised a bit. And he folded. Was dreaming of knocking him out.

Had a straight draw and a flush draw and I stayed in because nobody bet enough to scare me off. Didn’t get the straight or flush and I ended up winning 33k with AA. Up to 98k now.

I just cannot get any traction this year. I've had mostly shit hands. When I see a flop, I don't think I've made my hand once. I've won a few small pots, but not much.

Well, the day after I posted the above, I got AA in the small blind. Buuuut, it happened to be a quiet hand and my $3K preflop bet got no takers. Only made about $1500. Dammit.

Not WRGPT, but in a "home game" tourney last night on PokerStars - I was at a table with Chris Moneymaker for four hours. That was quite something.

Play along:

I have 77 UTG.

I go ahead and raise 3X the blind
Table folds around to the Button who calls
Blinds fold

Flop comes AA10 (2 spades and a heart)

I figure time to see where I am and lead out $4200
He raises to $12650

I prob should fold there as he is representing at least an A - but back of mind is that he might be trying to bully from position, and while he has a slightly larger stack than me, we are both well above $50K and, fuck it - so, I make a pretty loose call. He could also have a set of 10s at this point, I suppose but he would have to hate the AA more than I do at that point and wouldn't likely have raised over my leadout given my initial raise...

4th street comes: 7s

I go ahead and lead out with a $20K bet.

Waiting on him to act.

If he was seeing on a flush draw, he made his flush and he's dead.

If he was A anything other than A10 -I am ahead, otherwise I am already dead save a miracle 4th seven.

If he is AA I am fully dead as he would have quads.

So...what do you all think he has?

I am waiting on him to bet and I am committed to all-in at this point in any event. I can't lay down the boat here. If I lose because I hung around where I should not have, so be it.

Re: WRGPT 30

I am not out...

...he had AK.

The 7 on 4th street was cyanide to him (as was my loose call being granted absolution). He probably should have re-raised my initial raise, he only flatted, and here we are.

So I am up to $145,500 and 13th place and he's down to $7100. Cool.

And... I am now leading tourney. $324,375 chips. Second has 265000. Pure luck on last hand where I went from $180,000 to where I am now - had 10 10. Raised aggressively pre-flop. Two callers including the guy who was the tourney leader.

Flop J86

Turn 7

River 9

I had been leading out on flop and turn and kept getting called. One call was a guy who went all in. So after turn I figure I am likely hosed but the river gave me the straight. Tossed out another $45000 bet and the former big stack called.

All in guy showed QQ

Previous big stack showed KK

My 10 10 which turned into the straight did the trick.

Like I said, I got lucky as hell. When I picked up the gutshot draw to go with maybe finding a set on the river, figured worth sticking around after the turn. And when they followed my bet again, I was gonna fold if I didn't improve on river and the bigger stack led back. Instead, hit the straight, he checked and then called my last bet. It was delightful.

Just flopped quads against a guy who re-raised 4x over a first raiser (I limped after the initial raise). He’s got $46000 and I will be shocked if he survives the hand.

Board is 995 and I have 99.
