No fruit in chocolate, mint is on a case by case basis.

Ok, we're good again. :)

Feels like they added toothpaste to my chocolate. I like mint in other things, but absolutely not chocolate.

I also hate that fake orange flavor in chocolate too. Other fruits I don't mind.

On Canadian chocolate: I bought a box of Coffee Crisp from Amazon. They're pretty good.

Lowkey, one of the biggest issues in my marriage right now is that when my oldest and I visited Pitt over the summer, I brought my wife home a Coffee Crisp bar (we stayed with my sister and they had a box of them because my BIL is from Buffalo and loves them) and she hasn't touched it. She loves coffee-flavored everything! And candy! I transported it most of the way across PA! TRY IT!

ETA - Max, if your kid likes them and has a craving, there is a candy store in the Strip District that sells them

I think it's just a Buffalo thing. College friend who grew up in Buffalo was upset I never heard of them before. She got me some, and I wasn't impressed. I think she said it was an Easter thing, not sure if that was just a family tradition. She also thought it was a Polish thing, not a Buffalo thing.

Feels like this is something I should have known about before going to Buffalo: Coffee Crisp is a chocolate bar made in Canada. It consists of alternating layers of vanilla wafer and a foamed coffee-flavoured soft candy, covered with a milk chocolate outer layer.

Nope. I don't like wafer covered in chocolate. It's mostly a texture/mouth-feel thing.

I wonder if the mint-chocolate thing is like how some folks taste soap when they eat cilantro?

Grandpa Joe's Candy Shop! :D

ha - yup last month we happened upon it while exploring the Strip District - fun store; I bought some Reggie! bars (cannot believe they made them - the orange glow from the box drew me in)

we're actually heading there tonight for parents' weekend, real quick turnaround - will watch Pitt get curbstomped by FSU tomorrow but supposed to be a nice day.

anyways yes - that candy store is awesome and i could see wandering back there tomorrow morning or postgame!

This was a HS friends trip that was originally supposed to center on the 2018 World Cup / 40th b-days but then they missed and covid happened etc etc so one guy was finally just like "we're going to Buffalo the weekend of the Giants game" and we did. Didn't really need recs since we were there to hang out versus be tourists and some others already knew a bit (but not enough to get dinner reservations for 12 ahead of time). Went to Banshee / some german place that couldn't seat us by the casino / southern tier the first night and then up and down Elmwood Ave the second.

How bad of an idea would trying to just go down to the tailgate area have been? It was debated but seemed like there was a huge chance of being stuck in traffic / stuck trying to get back later so we just stayed around where we were. Also one guy booked a 1 bathroom AirBNB on Berkshire Ave for 7 people.

Then there must be some other explanation for why you didn't come meet me. Must have just been scheduling.

Try living in the same town with him for 3 years and not meeting, just getting stalkery DMs telling you what you and your family wore to the street fair. Although I sent him a similar message asking about his car, as he pulled out of the bank as I pulled in, or stood behind his wife and kids in line at the ice cream place.

Oh, I'm definitely the problem. I've hated plans in general for most of my life and its been exacerbated by having kids stuff filling up the schedule so I default to no on a lot of other shit. Like this weekend we have a family party two hours away on Saturday and then the oldest has a tourney an hour away on Sunday and that's more or less ruined my brain because all I can think is "I don't have a free day for 1_ more days". Its a lame thing to whine about, I'm aware. And also I don't meet up with people who I can tell will some day yell at me for how I grieve celebrities.

ah that's cool - a) i wasn't busting on you (like A_B ... KIDDING!) and obviously i saw your post but i must have thought it was a theoretical :D and b) i hate plans too for real.

LOL i just looked up Berkshire Ave - like legitimately 15-20 minute walk from where i live :D

yeah just going down to "the tailgate area" would have been madness. not necessarily not fun, but madness for like a mile radius out from the stadium.
