Deacon Jones, one of the greatest....
It's the sixth version of The Swamp. What could possibly go wrong?
Re: Deacon Jones, one of the greatest....
By 'virtue' of being in the media production capital, the Los Angeles Rams D-line was the first 'celebrity' front four (Rosey Grier, Merlin Olson, Lamar Lundy and Jones). Jones was the first athlete I remember crossing over to Hollywood, appearing in TV episodes as the huge, intimidating, unsmiling black athlete (like on The Odd Couple).
Who knows? Maybe, you were kidnapped, tied up, taken away and held for ransom.

Why did I think Youngblood was a part of that?howard wrote:By 'virtue' of being in the media production capital, the Los Angeles Rams D-line was the first 'celebrity' front four (Rosey Grier, Merlin Olson, Lamar Lundy and Jones). Youngblood backed up Deacon his first year (71). Rams traded Deacon the next season and gave Youngblood his spot.Jerloma wrote:Why did I think Youngblood was a part of that?
I don't think Deacon has ever gotten his full due as a player (certainly not from the last couple generations of fans) but at least those silly 'list' shows on NFL Network keep his name in discussions of greatest ever.

Watch the whole thing, but let's just say there's an interesting comment about 17 seconds in.
“The running, the jumping... a celebration of life.”

I always suspected Deacon Jones was prejudiced against hermaphrodites.

So, remember Deacon's wise counsel next time you want to get to the fridge and your wife tries to block you.
