You said you were gonna doom scroll and drop panic posts in here. I was saying maybe don’t do that? I think most of us are on the edge of panic - just didn’t want to see panic posts if they are not good faith based. Obviously, do what you wish.

If this goes bad, it will clearly be obvious early.

My bad. I didn't say "panic posts," but I can see how you interpreted it that way.

I was going to post interesting/hopeful stuff mostly.

This seems good:

Is information line this publicly available? I've always been intrigued at how you can get this info and then break it down like that.

I mean, they have Exit Polls, but those are notoriously dodgy.

and it's really dodgy this year because you have to factor in almost 100M early voting ballots.

Are masks required at all polling places? Would be interesting to count wearers vs non-wearers as an indicator.

That might be very locale specific. I know here, absolutely required.

There are also drop boxes, so it would be pretty easy just to direct some Maga idiot to one of those.

Well, those results they posted appear to be looking at in person voting today only. So while overall turnout is different for people who have voted, that's looking at people who were actually there today. And it just says percentages based on party, not necessarily how they voted, even those are strongly correlated I imagine.

I am guessing that if you showed up at a polling place, you don't have your absentee ballot with you to just drop in the box. And in kentucky at least they don't just hand you a ballot, you have to sign in, fill it out and scan it before you leave.

yeah, duh, good point.

honestly, even the Maga folks around here seem to not want to really get into it. I haven't seen a maskless person at a store or restaurant for many months around here.

That has to be based on party registration. The identity of voters, and when and whether they've voted, is public information, but I think it's difficult to get, so only the parties and candidates go through the trouble.

And as we were talking about yesterday, party registration is not the same thing as party identification.

I know that in my group of friends, roughly 1/3 are registered Republicans. That's how they registered in college and they haven't bothered to change it.

Of that group of 15 or so, only one is going to vote for Trump. And she's catching a metric ton of shit for it.

Saw that earlier. Pretty vague. What's the preparation that a campaign needs on e-day? Ground game?

Not sure if this is what was being referred to, but I saw a tweet in response to those reports about Pennsylvania that centered around the premise that it's not smart to rely on in-person voter turnout when wait times are very long, specifically over two hours, because it turns off people who are more casual about their support.

Literally yes. Voter rolls, calls, making sure your voters are getting to their polling places. Cross checking vs. early votes to know who is still out there. It's important.

Looks like early not great news on Biden getting florida. But the good news is he doesn't need it. Bad news is it puts more emphasis on NC and Georgia. Miami/Dade early numbers dump pretty bad news apparently.
