Yep, high socks match. I always thought she was weird with the mismatch, now I realize she is just mindlessly following a trend. I think I preferred when I thought she was weird.

So is the problem with these just the white soles, or am I missing something deeper?

If you go back to the top of the thread, yes, the blindingly white soles worn with suits (a la the CBS Sunday Football Crew) is a big thing for me, as is wearing these with just about anything other than casual dress.

Despite absolutely hating the NFL today "dress sneakers" and the photo of Messier and Chelios in suits with Jordans on, I take no issue with Kyle's wedding attire. First, Kyle wasn't wearing a suit, rather a sportcoat. Huge difference. Second, the multiple blues (bowtie, pocket square, slacks, shoes) all compliment each other. Looking good, KD!

They are designed for people who want to wear Crocs, but don't think Crocs are embarrassing enough and want to look even dumber.

I wear shoes for a really long time before getting new ones. So I showed off my brand new sneakers to my neighbor. He said, “Hoka, eh? Kind of adult orthopedic shoes, aren’t they?”

I think of them as shitty running shoes (I haven't really given them a chance because when I try them on it feels like they completely change my running stride, almost like wearing heals). On the other hand I felt the same about Oofos but I forced myself to stick with them because I could feel plantars was coming, and now I like them.

I really liked an earlier version of the Hoka Cliftons (6s maybe?) and was less enthused about the 7s.

I think Hoka's are made for people with a specific step or stride. All I know is I took my son to a store that does computer analytics of your feet and watch you run on a treadmill and recommend shoes based on how you stand and run. They have a lot of Hoka's, but told my son they aren't good for him.

They do feel like they are changing the pressure points on my feet, which is a bit weird. But probably for the best, because I’d been wearing my old Brooks runners for more than two years. The sales clerk admonished me a bit. “Shoes that worn out aren’t good for your feet.”

I'm at that exact same point right now. My Brooks are worn and I've grown tired of them only offering wide sizes in the boring ass colors.
