Is it treason yet? Sedition?

Still asking, what will the military do and whose behalf will they do it on? And when?

I'll have faith in the upper echelons of the chain of command.

You're gunna have to fire a lot of colonels and generals to reach the point of "American military firing on American citizens."

Now those secret police wearing my uniform? I can't speak for them.

(Sidenote: do those guys become Biden's after inauguration?)

ETA

And I swear to fucking Christ, if a Biden Administration doesn't go after these fuckheads when all is said and done, then NOTHING matters anymore. Nothing. Both parties are the same operating either with regard or without to humanity, kinda.

Is this all an elaborate ruse? Why are Graham and Harris fist bumping? Where are the Democrats? This shit is ridiculous.

Yeah I don't like him either. He is one responsible for feeding Trump being like this, but with Romney, Sasse, Collins, and now Joni Ernst ripping Trump, do you think an Impeachment could go through?

You need 67. No.

But if those 4 were pissed enough they can take away McConnell's power regardless of Georgia.

At the very least, they can take away McConnell's power right now. The fact that they don't shows that they don't actually care all that much about the attempted coup.

I mean, you can tell that Romney knows he *should* care. So occasionally he makes the right noises. But real action?

I'm a broken record, truly, at this point:

The military told Donald to fuck right off during the BLM protests, when Trump tried to pull them into policing the streets.

They. Do. Not. Like. Him.

I'd love it if the generals in charge responded to the drawdowns with a "The American people are perfectly capable of having their say on this issue, so let's give them a voice. Let's let the American people decide." (Which of course has already been done)

Right. They did decide. Except...what happens when the losing side won't yield. I've asked, I keep being told they will yield, and it appears to me the endgame is not to yield. So...what then?

The constitution plus America's rules & norms will march in and carry him out.

Then (i) states certify their results showing that Biden's electors were chosen on November 3, (ii) the electors cast their votes for Biden on December 14, (iii) Congress accepts their votes on January 6, and (iv) January 20 rolls around and Trump's term ends.

There is no point along this path that requires Trump to yield.

Aye. Indeed. That's been a winning combo for four years now. We are definitely fine then...

That’s a good thread.

I’m no political pundit but I grew up w a dad who was a federal prosecutor & he taught me a lot & I’ve also sat a fair amount of poker w serious players & l’ll say this: I do not think Trump is trying to ‘make his base happy’ or ‘laying the groundwork for his own network’...

...or that ‘chaos is what he loves’. The core of it is that he knows he’s in deep, multi-dimensional legal jeopardy & this defines his every action. We’re seeing 1) a tactical delay of the transition to buy time for coverup & evidence suppression 2) above all, a desperate endgame

...which is to create enough chaos & anxiety about peaceful transfer of power, & fear of irreparable damage to the system, that he can cut a Nixon-style deal in exchange for finally conceding. But he doesn’t have the cards. His bluff after ‘the flop’ has been called in court...

His ‘turn card’ bluff will be an escalation & his ‘River card’ bluff could be really ugly. But they have to be called. We cannot let this mobster bully the USA into a deal to save his ass by threatening our democracy. THAT is his play. But he’s got junk in his hand. So call him.

I will allow that he’s also a whiny, sulky, petulant, Grinchy, vindictive little 10-ply-super-soft bitch who no doubt is just throwing a wicked pout fest & trying to give a tiny-hand middle finger to the whole country for pure spite, without a single thought for the dead & dying.

But his contemptible, treasonous, seditious assault on the stability of our political compact isn’t about 2024, personal enrichment or anything else other than trying to use chaos & threat to the foundation of the system as leverage to trade for a safe exit. Call. His. Bluff.

Faith in the strength of our sacred institutions & founding principles is severely stretched...but they will hold. They will. He’s leaving, gracelessly & in infamy. But if we trade for it, give him some brokered settlement, we’ll be vulnerable to his return. We can’t flinch.

That hand recount did a whole lot to shut shit down in Georgia—I’m starting to think it was real genius. Now for Trump to drag it out any further, he has to ask for a statutory recount, which has to be done using.....the corrupt Venezuelan machines. Looking forward to it!
