Week 12 NFL

Another near .500 week - did some editing through the week so don't have accurate results and don't feel like going back to tabulate.

Here's week 12...too much strength of schedule does weird things to the outliers so I've actually toned it down, although if I had it even higher last week the overall record would have been like 9-4 or something like that.

Still really disrespectful to Indianapolis and gives too much respect to the Ravens - manually adjusted each of them a bit for this week.

Dallas by that much? Washington D is good and crushed them last time. Dalton might not last the game.

I think that game will be tight, a de facto elimination game.

When typing in the lines, I was thinking "man Washington might be a good bet". I was also surprised. And I actually seem to have a pretty good read on Washington. Sometimes the surprises actually play out - for example I was surprised by the Raiders and Panthers predictions against Kansas City and both ended up playing out that way, along with Miami over LAR, etc. etc. - and sometimes they don't.

Teams I think I have a generally good read on:

• Washington, Philly and NYG
• Pittsburgh
• Carolina
• Cleveland
• LV Raiders
• Cincinnati thought that is in question now
• New England
• JAX
• NYJ

Teams I'm generally ok on but have some big misses:

• New Orleans and Tampa Bay
• Seattle (at one point I was pretty good on them)
• Green Bay and Chicago
• Miami
• Buffalo
• Chargers
• Detroit

Teams I'm hit or miss:

• Dallas
• Atlanta
• Denver
• SF and LA Rams
• Kansas City
• Arizona

And teams I am just wildly off every week:

• Baltimore
• Indianapolis
• Tennessee

So someone explain the NFL's close contact rule because I'm pretty sure five post-gameday positives would affect like half the team? Is this one of the standard "we take player safety very seriously (unless it might affect revenue)" deals?

I was “out of pocket” today and read bottom up. Very humiliating to see I was late to the party but I refused to delete this post.

They were my first introduction to soccer. One of my good friends from college was from Mexico City and a big UNAM fan.

Another thing to remember is that Baltimore-Pittsburgh is in a standalone television window. A few weeks ago, when the Sunday night game was in doubt due to COVID results on one team, the league flipped the television coverage with one of the 4pm games where the teams had no COVID issues to ensure there would be a game that night. Having a suddenly empty window on one of the league's broadcast partners is absolutely not an option for the NFL.

But we do agree a non-complicit media would be all over this, even if just asking basic questions like "how are there no close contact holdouts", right?

What, you think something's not on the up-and-up when one guy goes on the COVID list on Monday because they tested positive on Sunday morning instead of every player the positive tester shared a huddle with 48 times after they gave the test sample?

Oh to be in the offices of NBC when they got that call today from the NFL. I wonder what they are going to scramble to put on instead.

I thought I saw yesterday it's going to be dog show rerun. I love dogs but that's quite the drop off...

I would have thought they would have opted to run "It's a Wonderful Life" because they have the network broadcast rights.

But, more importantly, let's talk about how fucked they are on Sunday night because it sure looks like MITCH TRUBISKY IS BACK, BABY!

Jim Nantz calling the “reacharound” on a play during the Lions Texans tilt started a 3 minute conversation with Mrs. Cerrano in my house about which I am embarrassed to report.

Seems that if there’s one guy on your staff that you need to have wear a mask it’d be the strength and conditioning coach.

I teased Houston to +3.5 and Dallas to +3.5 and figured I'd only have to really sweat the Dallas game.
