Well we got our doors blown off but it could have gone differently. I knew all 3 of their Round 2 questions for 5 points. I’ll tell you what they were when it’s safe.

I play in an online version of the trivia show that this thread is about (which itself is based on a cult-followed UK show) and it’s filled with people who are the closest thing the US has to pro quizzers and my randomly-thrown-together trio just lost in the D1 semis to the ‘27 Yankees of the league and if we got some question luck it would have at least been very close.

It wasn’t recorded.

Well we lost the third-place game fairly handily too. The semis game could have at least been respectable if we swapped questions in the sequences round.

They got one showing venn diagrams of the letters shared by TEN ELEVEN TWELVE which jumped right off the page and would have been 5 points for us instead of them (the answer was the same for ONE TWO THREE)

Next was a first clue showing “JOHN = BARTENDER” and so the answer was the fourth person and job mentioned in goddamn Piano Man. Might not have gambled that I knew the right order for 5 but I would have been right (DAVY = SAILOR)

And the final nail was the last 4 goals scored in the Miracle on Ice. They included the Russian goals so not exactly the same as the one I wrote but still an automatic 5

The rest was just hard and embarrassing (…)
