So was Lance's case not being thrown out yesterday expected? Does that indicate he is in big trouble and will be living in a van down by the river when this is all said and done? Or was this just a shot to get the case tossed but the real fight will be as the case moves forward.

I don't know if it was expected, but somehow I doubt this will end up with Lance living down by the river.
I don't understand how the US Postal Service will be able to establish damages. Apparently the judge agreed that damages seemed sketchy, but there was enough to go to trial. And even if there is a big award against Armstrong, he may be able to discharge it in bankruptcy. Either way, I'm sure he has assets hidden away somewhere that he can live on if things go badly.
Interestingly, the person who stands to gain the most if the Postal Service wins big? Floyd Landis, who filed the original False Claims Act lawsuit and gets up to a 25% cut as a whistleblower.
I guess there are no potholes where these people ride.

Only 3 Americans with throw a leg over the bike at this years Le Tour.
Taylor Phinney, Nathan Brown, and Andrew Talansky
All 3 race for US Cannondale-Drapac (former Slipstream/Argyle squad). Phinney was the great American hope. His parents were star cyclists and he has 2 4th places at the Olympics, National titles, and junior titles. Even wore Pink at the Giro for 3 stages. But he is still recovering from a crash that nearly took is leg off. Hope he gets a time trial stage and makes it to Paris (he will struggle in the mountains).

I was surprised and a bit disappointed when I checked and saw that, even though he's about to win his fourth tour, Froome's got a "measly" 7 TDF stage wins in 5 years of competing, and none this year. Sure seems to use his team to his advantage, but generally not a very exciting guy to watch or root for.

US-based Slipstream may be going under. This is the "clean team" that Jonathan Vaughters started. They have had a bunch of sponsors but are typically known for the Argyle jerseys. http://www.velonews.com/2017/08/news/sl ... pse_446677

The Giro d’Italia cycling race will begin in Israel next year, marking the first time any leg of the sport’s three Grand Tours will take place outside of Europe.
Chris Frome in a bit of trouble. Four-time Tour de France champion Chris Froome was placed under investigation by cycling authorities on Wednesday morning after a doping control showed abnormally high levels of an asthma drug at the Vuelta a Espana in September. He had twice the allowed limit.

Team Sky ‘crossed ethical line’ - doping in sport report
Okay this is interesting. Virtual Bike Racing had more prize money than the pro race on the same day. What I like about this is I could imagine a platform for gambling where some portion goes to the racer who wins, some goes to the platform, and some the winning bettor. For those with some cycling history may recognize the parallel this would have to the old 6-day velodrome racing that was big (some amazing pictures of racing inside MSG back in the day).
Chris Froome banned from the Tour. He has an ongoing investigation into Salbutamol. So Le Tour said Le' not allowed to register for the race. The CAS will rule this week on the appeal. http://www.velonews.com/2018/07/tour-de ... nce_471156

So Landis is taking his part of the Armstrong settlement and backing a cycling team (continental is like 2 levels below World Tour teams you generally see in the grand tours). What is interesting is: 1.) look at how Landis' money worked out from the case; 2.) the guy cheated, got caught, lied, took people's money to fight getting caught, admitted it after taking people's money, became a whistle blower and got paid off the armstrong case; and is now allowed to back a team with is dispensary business(where as Lance can't run a marathon, Ironman, masters swimming race or similar event for his lifetime doping ban--although some of that has been eased back on). https://www.velonews.com/2018/10/news/l ... ash_479819
Group of Pro road riders taking on Leadville 100 tomorrow. Article does a good job of talking about this mountain bike race, but short version..not super technical, but at super altitude. Bucket list mountain bike race. https://www.velonews.com/2019/08/mounta ... ace_498856
No Tour of California in 2020 and may not make it back.

Some of the pros are just strange birds....but this guy is different. Lots of folks (pros and average joes) are everesting right now. This guy did it twice in a week...first time the group that calculates the route realized they messed up. “His response to me was funny, and very typically Australian,” said van Bergen, an Aussie himself. “Well, that sucks. [Bleep] happens.”
Virtual Tour De France over the next 3 weekends. This is on the same app that I use. I won't be on NBCSN but these races will. All of the big boy teams are participating.
First two stages ares in their made up virtual world. The route on day 1 is going to be fast. Called "the hilly route" it is one of the original routes and climbing is not so bad. The second day is a BEAST of a climb. Harder than Alpe Du Huez (which is replicated in Zwift)
The 2nd two weekends (2 races each) are on virtual replicas of French roads. This includes Mont Ventoux and laps of the Champs-Elysées.
