Are you counting Fiji (Vijay Singh) as part of Greater Oceania?

Faldo almost just did this!

Someone make sure Fuzzy Zoeller is nowhere near a microphone (or a twitter account)

Who was the third broadcaster whose heart seemed in the right place but was the 90 year old woman in price chopper complimenting “the colored boy” who helped her out back in 1997?

Who was the announcer who stereotyped Japanese people by saying Matsuyama, like Japanese men became demure, or red in the face because he was capable of embarrassment?

Why even bring up something so irrelevant?

Switched to hockey when he sunk that last putt so maybe I missed some dick tripping, but I did think the regular replays of the Japanese broadcasters had a bit of an “LOL these guys are so excitable, right?” vibe to it.

I lost the prop bet on Dottie Pepper bringing up Pearl Harbor and/or Hiroshima since I had my money on the wrong whitey because the comment on Japanese people being naturally embarrassed at success also qualified. Live and earn, amirite?

This must've been what I heard. What the hell is wrong with people?

I'd be interested in degen's thoughts on whether all of Asia is going to be going nuts because a Japanese dude won this tournament. I'm (obviously) totally with them when they kept bringing up the Olympics and how the country was going to go nuts.

But they kept conflating that with the entire region and I was getting pretty annoyed.

And, I also want to strongly agree with whoever noted the Tokyo broadcast as being problematic. You want to play that stuff, get a translator and let us know what they were saying. Smacked of when US broadcasting plays South American goal calls in very much of a pedantic, get a load of these excitable fellows kind of way.

Exactly how I felt. "Listen to those goofy foreigners! Their words are funny!"

To me, it's no different than two other English-speaking examples that went viral this weekend.

I'm sure it was a big deal in Japan but not crazy. I think it's CBS putting importance on The Masters. And of course Asia doesn't care only Japan and Korea care about golf as a competition. The Olympics comments was really dumb and again pumping the importance of The Masters. They're looking for a story when there is none. Golf isn't even a major sport in the Olympics. Btw if I were to bet who who lights the cauldron this summer, it's Kaori Icho, 4-time Olympic gold medal wrestling champions, went undefeated for 17 years.

The cultural thing was of course overblown. A man from France has never won a major, but if one were to lead the Masters, you wouldn't hear them drone on and on about it like yesterday.

The Japanese commentating was dumb without context or without a translator. Or even a guest on during the round to explain the importance of golf in Japan. During a 5 hour broadcast, I want to hear an interview or a feature from an English-speaking Japanese reporter, not from Nantz and Faldo.

Like this guy.

And in comparison. Canada is also a golf mad country and when Weir won in 2003 it was a pretty big deal. It probably upped memberships for awhile.

Bronto is the big Masters Pool weiner.

I got money from Govment Pimento, Raex's Creek, Chilidipper69, Pinestrawman, the four-putt sabos and ABzalea. HAven't received from Shanklin just yet. So you can just send your $5 straight to bronto or to me. I'll distribute funds shortly.

Are you sure I didn't win? I was the only one who was under par. -11 is good in golf right?

Eating a late night pimento on ciabatta. Warm the bun up for a few seconds. Spread the goodness and enjoy.
