Watching Modern Love on Amazon Prime, because it's what you do on a Saturday night when you've been married for 23 years...

The Episode with Dev Patel is "meh," the one with Tina Fey is "feh!" but the episode with Anne Hathaway is amazing. I always kind of liked her, but her performance is Emmy worthy.

I really liked it as well. It was pretty understated and obviously only really holds up as a coda to Breaking Bad, but it was a great way to tie it up. I think Jesse deserved that. (And man, watching the little prelude of scenes from BB ... I had forgotten just how fucked up it all got.)

I just finished up S2 of Lodge 49 last night, and someone here said it's a salve for today's end times. A fantastic show.

I feel like it will get picked up by someone else. Hope so anyway. I wasn’t completely sold like most everyone else, but I binged the last 5 episodes today and will be bummed if that’s the last we see of it.

Jack Ryan season 2 was okay. Not great, not good, not terrible. Bummer that the Tom Clancy licensing machine gave them this character. Very little that made this Jack Ryan tie to the original character (or even the new non-Clancy books). Could have done just as well with a new character and relied on John K's name alone to market.

What? New Mexico gets plenty of winter weather (snow/ice/whatnot). Or at least it did when I lived there.

Found a place to legally stream Documentary Now! and binged last night.

Three classics - "Globesmen," "Juan Likes Chicken and Rice" and "The Bunker." Each one better than the last.

It's a continuation of the original story...so not really a sequel and definitely not a regurgitation...so I think it does a good job of keeping true to the original story when it's necessary to reference. I've been enjoying it as well.

My point was that I wasn't really sure whether it worked for someone with absolutely no knowledge of the original story. And maybe it isn't intended to?

If you're gearing a story only for the most hardcore fans, you're probably doing it wrong. A little fan service is fine, but it's not going to cut it for a mass audience. I don't know anything about Watchmen other than I thought the Zack Snyder movie kinda sucked, but I could see being interested in going back to check out the original material.

(Fair warning though, I also tend to enjoy superfans getting worked up and triggered about any new interpretation of a cult classic.)

It's absolutely a continuation of a well-known property, but not something like Superman or Batman where *everyone* knows the basic story beats. There are little nods to "hardcore" fans throughout, I was just legitimately curious whether the whole thing holds up for someone dropped blind into the world of the comic in episode one. I usually use my wife as a litmus test, but she's was too sleepy to catch the first couple of episodes, so...

Anyway, Sunday's episode was pretty incredible. "Staggering" was used in one of the reviews I read, and yeah that works.

I have all of them saved up and will start binging as soon as I'm done with The Good Place. I don't know much at all about the comic at all. Didn't see the movie.
