It strikes me as a little weird that Debbie drives a foreign car since her dad works for one of the Big Three. Most Detroiters wouldn't pass up that family discount, we certainly never did.

Not even a minor nitpick though, it was probably just an excuse for the screenwriters to drive home location again.

Then again, frankly, Debbie is a bit of a rebel and a free spirit.

Hopefully, Giff is not missing this due to an overly-long HOA meeting.

It's a rare movie where the second half MIGHT be better than the first half. Never really loses steam and they pay everything off in the end.

I guess they even say where they're from (NSA). Didn't realize NSA had field agents though.

Debbie's apartment burning down on Devil's Night is a brilliant inside joke for Detroiters.

They're doing a great job making the hyper-clever dialogue sound natural instead of sounding like they're just spitting it out.

A general comment I wanted to make is that a bunch of movies at the time were trying to do what this movie is doing, but few anywhere near this good. It's hard to explain.

I think it helps that we're all about the same age and this movie nails the era/generation perfectly. I hate the term for a variety of reasons, but might be the quintessential Gen X movie.
