Former VPOTUS get their own threads, right? Even when they lose worse than almost anybody in the presidential bid?

I didn’t realize how close he came to losing MN.
And his one problem is he didn’t go to Russia that night because he had extracurricular activities, and they froze to death.
Re: Fritz Mondale
No one’s ever gonna top Carter and Mondale’s record for longest-lived President and Vice President. Gonna be at least 189 years depending how much longer Carter holds on.

Re: Fritz Mondale
Reading his obit in the NYTimes this morning, it showed that Mondale was an old school pol...meaning he got into politics for the 'right' reasons, and worked hard to actually deliver for his constituents. Quite a contrast to the current generation of media-whores who go into politics to expand their 'brand'.

Minnesota had a good run of Senators for awhile.DaveInSeattle wrote: ↑Tue Apr 20, 2021 12:58 pm Reading his obit in the NYTimes this morning, it showed that Mondale was an old school pol...meaning he got into politics for the 'right' reasons, and worked hard to actually deliver for his constituents. Klobuchar seems to be continuing the trend, so long as you don't forget to bring her salad forks.

Re: Fritz Mondale
when he was running in 1984 he came to Buffalo for a speech at the convention center - my dad was a history/govt teacher and thought it was a good idea for me to go see the event so we went downtown really early and somehow got to help put up signs around the place with Mondale's daughter ??
That got us front row seats for the event which was cool enough on its own but Stephen Stills "opened up" for Mondale, singing 3 songs on acoustic.
Maybe it should have been a Mondale/Stills ticket instead.
Anyways, that's a great story right there. Mondale was a good man.

Re: Fritz Mondale
I was trying to place who she looks like... A little bit Helen Hunt. Then I realized, my neighborhood friend's older sister! Looks exactly like her.

She looks like Uma Thurman in that pic.
Re: Fritz Mondale
I'll say more Helen Slater but none of us are really not proving the point.

Re: Fritz Mondale
Maybe I just didn't pay attention to tabloid stuff, but Monica Lewinsky being jealous of Eleanor Mondale (and others) during all of Clinton's affairs while in the White House was a fun read that I knew nothing about until just now. Also didn't realize that Eleanor died almost 10 years before her father.
