I think he’s been good for sure. Nostalgia makes it a tough call but it’s actually a great story that the best ever to play is also able to be the host. A calling.

Current champ is a music executive from Tampa. Had no idea that was a job in this town. Dude looks a LOT like Bill Hader, and is apparently a very big deal in the quiz game world.

I'm glad he lost too, but I didn't think he was arrogant. I more feel like he just had some personality tics that came off really awkward on the show, like he's not around in a lot of social situations. And yes, trying to understand him when he got his quick story time in was damn near impossible. But I didn't feel like he tried to show anybody up and seemed really gracious in the loss, unlike Yogesh a few weeks ago.

A possible 4th! Great job! Me and Doc were at the live interview at different times in Boston in 2015. He went first and gave me the best advice you can give, which in terms of personality be a bigger version of yourself. The live test is simply to make sure that a ringer didn't take the test for you.

Sounds like dating advice, but basically be yourself - or at least the version of you who we've played games online with.

As long as you can project and don't come across as a know it all, you'll be great.

Might help to have a few anecdotes ready as well - fun brushes with greatness, travel story, cute story about kids. I'd have 2-3 things ready. Just a couple of lines.

Anytime test available for all today on J!'s birthday. Even if you already took it within the time period. I blanked on a couple of easy ones and then just flat didn't know 3-4 others. So it doesn't look good.

So the guy in the middle last night who claimed that in college he and his buddy planned to do a marathon in college, but didn’t train, just ate a bunch of pasta the week before, and then ran the whole thing. That dude was utterly full of shit, right?

I'd say probably, but I also did a 10k with a guy who was in shape but never ran and he beat me...no wait...finished before me...wait a second..I came in behind...no..damnit. Anyway his time was better than mine by a lot. I am not fast, mind you.

Fun story about Michael Davies (from Men In Blazers) and his day job as the exec producer at Jeopardy...

Is ‘Jeopardy!’ a Sport? Its New EP Certainly Thinks So.
It’s the opening day of the Jeopardy! Masters tournament, and the quiz show’s Culver City soundstage is buzzing. There is a new starry backdrop and an enormous Masters-branded floor panel that on one occasion nearly takes out Ken Jennings as he attempts to make his way to the host’s lectern. There is a new audience, whose members were required to sign NDAs to safeguard what they are about to witness. And there is a new format, the brainchild of new—OK, new-ish—executive producer Michael Davies.

Davies, who joined Jeopardy! in August 2021, is a frenetic presence on set. In his usual wardrobe of Stan Smith sneakers and—true to form for the longtime cohost of the popular soccer podcast Men in Blazers—a black blazer, he typically spends tapings observing from a seat in the control room. But with Masters beginning to unfold, he wants to be closer to the action, and settles in at the judges’ table inches from the stage’s glossy edge.

Comedian (and former SNL cast member) Brooks Wheelan did that:

Brooks Wheelan on Running a One-Man Marathon During the Pandemic
The longest I’d ever run continuously was 10 miles. I had just lost my job at SNL and I was so stressed out—I run to relieve stress. Now I run three miles, occasionally. Maybe nine miles a week.

But I was on my friend Nick Turner’s podcast Get Rich Nick, where he tries get-rich-quick schemes, for an episode on drunk bets. We were drunk, and I was like “I’ll run a marathon.” We bet $500. Then we weren’t sure if we were going to do it, or if it was all drunk talk, and then I just realized this is the one thing I can do right now: I’m not touching anybody. It’s all outside. We’ll just track it on Runkeeper on my phone.
