That was handled pretty well by Bergevin

That just looks weird. Now I know how Pens fans must have felt when they saw MAF in a VGK jersey.

Love my neighborhood this time of year. We get lots of "Caps in the wild" reports. So in the last 3 days we have Ovi buys coffee for his wife (at my local starbucks), Ovi running on the local high school track (During high school football practice) in a shirt saying "Running sucks", and Ovi working out on the soccer fields where my team practices (during practice for other teams).

This is also the time where I start seeing Caps and their kids at the nearby playground and waiting for prescriptions at the CVS.

Suddenly a wild Ovi appears...

Hockey kind of snuck up on me. Preseason games are just a few days away.

And I see that the Eichel situation still hasn't been resolved. What a mess.

I need to get reacclimated with the NHL. Learn which players moved where this summer, etc. Maybe I'll write a poem about Brandon Tanev.

Yes, like that.

Is this the year the Pens miss the playoffs? No Crosby to start the season. No Malkin for a long while, and then there's no telling how good he might be. Still big questions about goaltending. I don't feel good about this team.

I'm rooting for the Panthers to have some type of horror season so Barkov wants to head up to NY.

This post makes me sad. So much of the MaxWebster mythos is built upon your fruitless devotion to this team. Without the Sabres, what are you? Just a regular, well-adjusted guy?

I support your flirtation with the Panthers, tho. I finally fell in love with Barkov last season.

I am - at best - only one of those three things.

yes, the mythos is dead.

I'm so sorry bapo!. Please don't let my unimportance be your downfall. But I'm more concerned about what I might be having for lunch in 5 days than the buffalo sabres at this point. I spent most of last year very frustrated and upset and then pretty much since the season-ending media day onward I've gone from "are you fking kidding me" to "i can't anymore." Last week for the first time since maybe June I actually watched some propaganda; they had a promo on their draft day ("the war room - oooooo") and there's LOCAL BOY kevYn adams the GM (n.b. has never had any management or front office experience but TERRY P TRUSTS HIM) running the show - he seems like a nice guy, he really does, and did I mention he's from western New York?? He's "One Of Us!!!!" ..... anyways there he is making calls and of course Daddy Pegula is sitting right next to him like a good overprotective parent should. Then they trade their best non-disgruntled forward Sam Reinhart for a 12yr old goalie right there on the video and...

oh and even if Eichel is the biggest prick in the universe ("Napoleon...there's no way of knowing that...") the scolding aspect of them having a press conference this morning to announce he's no longer the captain is just so....bush. Amazing how over and over again teams put so much energy into getting fans/media to so often side with the owners over players.

ok yeah i'm done - my heart isn't even in the sarcasm anymore does this give you some insight? they.are.hopeless. good luck to them.

If this is the end, then I'm going to miss our yearly tradition: me sending an email sometime around the second week of November, along the lines of 'Uh, what's going on with the Sabres? I thought they would be better this year.' And you responding with many expletives and talking about how you're just so, so tired.

Yeah. Even the Pirates gave me a few years of excitement, even if that feels like forever ago now. Is the other John Tavares still playing for the Bandits? Is St. Bonaventure any good this year?

Other John Tavares retired in 2015. Although he shows up in tournaments and stuff every now and then.

Bonaventure should be better than good this season. Top 25 start to finish.

Max can still do that without watching any games.
