In other former #1 pick news:

I’m curious to know if this is just another case of an owner ownering or if they genuinely think that you can’t afford to pay a max contract to a big man anymore.

You know, this isn’t what I had in mind when I was dancing around shouting “Ubuntu” when they hired Doc.

This is so fun.

Tweet won’t load . Simmons dropped ball and went home. It’s very junior high.

I can't remember where I read an article about this exact contract. The author had quite a bit of detail about the max deals and who has gotten them in Ayton's draft class and previous drafts. There was also a breakdown of what position got the pure max deals, while the typical 5 usually didn't get full max contracts. Only a handful have (Davis and Jokic were two of them, and I believe the Magic gave Vucevic).

The overall consensus was that his position probably didn't warrant a max deal, but given the circumstances of winning now in Phoenix, that Sarver should pay Ayton and swallow the luxury tax.

Curious what the difference between max annual and market/offer annual is.

In his defense, Delilah’s is a fantastic strip club.

Without question. I mean, if he's not at practice it's as good as any place to go. I'm just impressed at his commitment to getting kicked out of town.

Sarver wanted to draft Ayton over Luka because he played in college at Arizona and hoped that would help drive interest (ticket sales, etc.). Sarver is also notoriously cheap, as evidenced by not re-signing Joe Johnson during the Seven Seconds or Less era.

Let's see what Joe thinks about Ayton not getting an extension...

If Simone Biles can bail on Olympics and Osaka can bail on a grand slam I think Simmons can bail on useless October games to get out of philly. Or is that only for girls?
