2022 Summer Transfer Window Rumors/News Etc

Post by tennbengal »

Did I name it right? That’s what’s upon us, I think? Contracts and decisions in int’l soccer still puzzle me. Change coming for Liverpool.

Named it correct. I don't care for this news. Mane is just a class human being, and such a good striker. I suppose my Man U fandom is glad he's out of the league (rumors are Munich is his destination), but this move baffles me a little from Liverpool's position.

Yeah, I never have any kind of handle on when guys are starting the decline - maybe Liverpool thinks it is near the start of a decline for Mane and wants to sell high? He's just really been the engine/heart/whatever metaphor works for their dominant run. Gonna be hard to replace entirely.

He's definitely getting older. That vaunted front line is all getting older, and in theory I like refreshing your team before they get stale, but it does feel like all three of Salah, Firmino, and Mane all have more to offer.

Of those three, I think Firmino is the one who has really started to decline. Although Salah hasn't looked the same since the AfCon/World Cup qualifiers.

I’m kinda hoping the fortunate CL draw masks what appears to be a clear decline among their core for atleast the summer window.

Not sure why you think Tuchel is the problem. It's really an issue of beating out a large group of players for a few spots. It existed before Tuchel got there. I love Chelsea and Pulisic, but he hasn't separated himself from Mount, Werner, Havertz, or even Ziyach. (And it was Hazard, Willian, and Pedro before).

Tuchel, Chelsea, whoever. I'd love for him to take a mile and a half walk west and add himself to the list of Americans who succeeded at the Cottage.

Chelsea sold for $3.2b (biggest in history) to the guy who owns a bunch of the Dodgers.

We won’t rest until we have the backup keeper at every Super League team.

Point taken, but an 18 yo, I'd be thrilled to see an American kid as a backup keeper at a super club. At 27 it doesn't benefit anyone. OTOH, maybe training at Arsenal is better experience than playing in MLS, genuinely not sure.

Shoot 27 is young for a keeper.

True, but Matt Turner has no chance of starting at Arsenal, and he is backing up a 24 yo.

Does Arlo White getting dumped by NBC count for this thread?

Wait...really? That sucks....I've also thought Arlo was really good (he used to be the Sounders announcer).

Arlo is fantastic and hilarious. When I heard he was leaving NBC, I assumed it was his choice.

My understanding is that all of the original NBC/EPL on air contracts were the same length as the original contract for the channel to carry the league, and next season will be a new contract between the channel and league. So, not a firing, more like a Bosman.

Really unclear. I saw a tweet from him that indicated the story on how this went down will come out at some point.

What I'm seeing is she's signed through 2022, but I don't have time to get more than an Athletic interview from last August and here Wiki page.

Jesus gave me quite the opposite feeling. My only concern, I heard Jesus is looking to play out wide. Arsenal's best players are wingers, and we have nothing but a very lame Nketiah up front. My daughter was asking for a new Arsenal jersey. I'm thinking she needs to walk around wearing a Jesus shirt.

That’s where he should be and, theoretically, he would have worked great with Haaland. Not sure why Pep never fully invested.

Tyler Adams to Leeds looks like a done deal. 20 million pounds. With Adams and Aaronson, Leeds is suddenly my EPL side chick.
