Going to be an "interesting" year with MI having a legit QB tussle. On the one hand, you've got a steady hand that helped you beat OSU and win a B1G title. On the other, you've got a guy with a massive ceiling that you probably are going to need to beat OSU and whatever SEC team you face in the playoffs (yahweh willing.)

No worries, Harbaugh will adopt whomever the unwanted QB is.

So I see Michigan is playing Colorado State this weekend. NLFC, I‘ll make an avatar bet with you, if you give me 50 points. Ha ha.

It's funny, I thought of you and was gonna propose one... Why don't we say 45 points.

Oklahoma State gets their shot at revenge on Central Michigan tomorrow after an officiating mistake led to one of the great endings in CFB this century.

Funny thing is, I'm headed out on vacation and will likely not even see the game. I'm super curious to see how they look, so I'll try to carve out some time the wife will abide to watch it on super FFWD mode on YouTube TV. (love this service for this very reason.)sancarlos wrote: ↑Wed Aug 31, 2022 5:37 pmOk, you’re on! Re: 2022 NCAA Football thread
This is a horrible targeting call. Especially since it took five seconds for the ref to blow the whistle and call it incomplete, and they had to get called from upstairs to review it for targeting because no one on the field saw anything. These slow whistles and letting it play through is going to get someone seriously injured. You blow the whistle and he doesn't go after the loose ball.
How do you all get your death notices since I left?
Re: 2022 NCAA Football thread
Not the best result to be sure, but would be surprised if Oklahoma State has 44 hung on them more than once in the Big 12.

Neal Brown (current WV head coach) was the offensive coordinator for a couple of years at UK. Solid but nothing super special. God, what a douchebag, though. He is the Ben Shapiro of coaches.

Last night during the draft on the zoom, Giff commented that Heinz looked empty. They broke the record for attendance last night.

I also made a comment that I was mistaken!

Sancarlos, you should get a second week out of it since you called the correct score.

Re: 2022 NCAA Football thread
ACC football...
NC State escapes East Carolina after calling a timeout that allowed the Pirates to set up a game-winning FG that missed.
North Carolina nearly blew a 41-21 lead to Appalachian State by giving up 40 in the fourth quarter, but hung on, 63-61.
Virginia Tech lost at Old Dominion last night.
Boston College blew a lead at home to Rutgers.
And Syracuse isn't even good enough to embarrass themselves by doing stuff like this.

Re: 2022 NCAA Football thread
It's worth reiterating that App State scored 40 fucking points on UNC in the 4th quarter! And UNC scored 22 themselves. Never heard of such a thing.
Totally Kafkaesque
Re: 2022 NCAA Football thread
Oregon sucks
Re: 2022 NCAA Football thread
Yeah... But it's 49-3 so they suck. Exactly the sort of team we need to let in the playoff
Re: 2022 NCAA Football thread
I went to a UNC NC State game like 20+ years ago where Torry Holt was the best player on the field. Pretty sure each team scored like 45 points. Somebody won in OT. That's all I got.

That was hilarious. My wife was giving me the business about me getting all worked up about a fly route TD "blowing the game" for me.

Re: 2022 NCAA Football thread
Crazy day so far. Notre Dame and A&M lose, Alabama should have (missed 20 yard FG, missed safety, missed egregious hold on the key play of the game).

Re: 2022 NCAA Football thread
they got the call right on that one ultimately. it wasn't intentional grounding either. McClellan is in the area and the pass is batted backward by a Texas defender.

Thanks. I was at a place where I couldn’t hear and the replays weren’t great.
At least none of my teams lost yesterday!

Re: 2022 NCAA Football thread
Sure feels like the QB controversy should be over at M at this point. The kid is just miles and miles better in just about every aspect of the game. Sucks for McNamara, but it's just glaring.
Would've been nice for M to schedule and actual team one of these first 3 games. Good lord. CO St is kind of respectable, when they're on a good run (they are not), Hawaii is one of the worst teams I've seen take the field in a decade against M, and now we lineup against a 1-2 UConn team that was absolutely dominated by 'Cuse (congrats dsafe).
I'm glad I'm not on the hook for season tickets. Blech.

Re: 2022 NCAA Football thread
My hot take is that Nebraska will never be a national power again. Not consistently at least.
Almost no in-state talent and hard to hit up their historical recruiting hotbeds of Texas and the southeast when you play in the B1G. That decision might have been good for the athletic department's balance sheet, but it's going to ruin their chances of ever playing for a national title again.

Re: 2022 NCAA Football thread
Yeah, it's funny. We're all pretty old, so I'm guessing we all have a knee-jerk reaction when we see Nebraska football. I still think of it as a power, but it hasn't been in a long time. Probably nobody under the age of 30 (at least) feels that they are. And they might be shocked to find out that they ever were.brian wrote: ↑Mon Sep 12, 2022 1:12 pm My hot take is that Nebraska will never be a national power again. Not consistently at least.

Re: 2022 NCAA Football thread
They also got hurt by roster size limits. In their heyday, Nebraska used to have a ton of kids go there (inexpensive in-state school) and walk on, allowing them to end up with a massive roster of bodies to develop and pummel, as needed.brian wrote: ↑Mon Sep 12, 2022 1:12 pm My hot take is that Nebraska will never be a national power again. Thank you. This is a fun account to follow for all the ridiculous stuff in college football - crazy plays, ridiculously terrible football, FBS losses to FCS schools, etc. (not for the semi-related tweet I am showing).Nonlinear FC wrote: ↑Sun Sep 11, 2022 9:38 amWould've been nice for M to schedule and actual team one of these first 3 games.
