I’ll keep you on block until then…

Speaking of misunderstanding… we were heading to the Vietnam War Memorial and my son asked if my still-living father-in-law’s name will be there. “Did he die in Vietnam? Then his name isn’t on a Memorial…” even thought of Johnnie as we drove over the Delaware Memorial and I said, huh, I didn’t realize Delaware died!

Happy summer. Spent time with the neighbors for the first time ever cause cookout on the block. Nice folks. The entire block has turned over in the last 5 years. Almost uniformly 5-10 years younger with babies and toddlers. Tons and tons of kids where used to be 2-3 total under 55 or so. Embracing the og status. The guy from Louisiana has the same similar pellet smoker you all were discussing. Solid ribs which I always struggle with.

That’s happened to us the last couple of years where with almost 20 years on the block and two HS aged kids we’re definitely among the old guard. Last summer and fall some of the younger families got the paperwork done to throw a couple of block parties (the town closed our street at either end) and it was really nice. We got a little FB group now and everything. Though the babysitting market has yet to really recover from covid.

Happy birthday Max (under the wire).

Celebrated the youngest’s confirmation in the Catholic Church today. Meant a lot to my wife since the oldest had second thoughts the week before hers a couple of years ago. Had a nice dinner with family and some friends. My parents came up but chose to stay at a hotel because stairs are getting to be too much for them.

Currently sitting on the back porch drinking by myself and listening to dramatically sad classic rock songs. Let’s see if I can stop before I give future me a headache.

Spent a couple of minutes to make a sad classic rock* playlist and asked Alexa to play it and the oldest laughed at me and asked me to say it again so she could record it and post it somewhere.
