I violently fought this premise in my head, and when I did the math I wanted to cry. Movie came out my freshman year of college. I saw a pre-release showing in the student union movie theater. Still feels like a "new" movie to me. The Sound of Music and Beach Blanket Bingo were 29 years old when Clerks came out 29 years ago...

And to REALLY make me feel old, I was talking to some work colleagues and mentioned my son is close to getting his driver's license. A female around 30 yo mentioned her first car and I said that my first car had no A/C, no power windows and only an AM radio. She said, "yeah but back then that was normal." Ummm, how old do you think I am? Then she said, "sorry, I have no sense of these things. Until recently I thought The Wizard of Oz was made in 1987 until I learned it was 1939." Then my manager was shocked and said she assumed it was from the 70s.

It may be this area of CO thing, but I don't really see young kids driving PoS cars here. My nephew just his first car and it's a 5-year-old small little sedan, but is damn nice for a 19-year-old. My first was a nearly 30-year-old International that I bought for 300$.

Around here the old POS cars end up on the poorer/immigrant side of town. Or trucked to the immigrants/poor people in LA.
