In fairness, it probably happened five years ago and the Weekend at Bernies routine finally could not continue anymore. Like, a leg finally could not be re-attached.

When I saw her name pop up on a NYT alert, I was hoping to see the word "retires." While I don't wish for anyone's death, this is probably the second best possible topic of a DF breaking news notice, right?

Was her life support from pure power or something? Don't understand why she wouldn't have retired once Newsome was elected governor.
Did you see that ludicrous display last night?

Exactly. I think it was kind of underplayed when the House Dem leadership all stepped aside like they did. It's just so incredibly rare for individuals on the national stage to "do the right thing" like that.

She was our Strom Thurmond. Embarrassingly feeble and clearly not even 50 percent of a functioning US Senator.

If the Dems are able to replace her on the Judiciary Committee, yes. Otherwise, this is not good news at all.
And his one problem is he didn’t go to Russia that night because he had extracurricular activities, and they froze to death.

I'm just not sure there are any lessons to be learned here.

I did not remember the story about how she fought repeatedly to fly the Confederate flag over city hall in San Francisco.
