Tim Wakefield

One of those players who was at every charity event and fundraiser. Remember him blaming himself for 2003 and then being so happy in 2004.

RIP

The Braves couldn’t solve him and I begged silently for Leyland to use him out of the bullpen and of course no let Stan pitch but felt good when the Sox did use him like that and was super happy for him in 2004.
I felt aswirl with warm secretions.

I'll never forget him coming out of the bullpen in the 2004 ALCS to pitch a few innings after it was clear they were going to lose to at least give the team a fighting chance in game 4.

Dude was just so, so awesome. It really fucking sucks he went out like this and even worse that Schilling went against the family's wishes and outed it on his podcast.

This seemed like a pretty good tribute to a teammate. Just look at Wakefield the whole time.

I always felt bad for him that he was hung out there to pitch Game 7 in the 2003 ALCS until the game ended. Glad for him that he was able to put that behind him.

And so much for Fuckstick Schilling and his "power of prayer".

Wakefield's wife died today too. Kids are both college age so I guess its not as bad as it could have been while still being real bad.

Ugh that's so terrible.
And his one problem is he didn’t go to Russia that night because he had extracurricular activities, and they froze to death.
