Marchand has to be top of the list in terms of guys who might do this. But yes, its a shit league to even think of doing this, let alone greenlighting the idea through.

What's the percentage of Eastern European and Russian players in the NHL? Yeah you have your standard locker room bigotry, but I'm guessing that's where the zealotry gains its traction.

I'll still probably cave and buy the streaming package, but now I'll have to wait until the uproar dies down so that my purchase doesn't come across as support for this bullshit.

It's just ESPN+. 1,050 out of market games carried there. I'd imagine you're out of all markets, but who knows how they divvy up the wild west. Also, a VPN will easily get you around that firewall.

This is a league that's really conservative and bottom line. Won't do anything to rock the boat, wants to keep games and races close. This is a league that cannot even organize a proper international tournament because Switzerland might be in it. McDavid's been in the league nearly decade and has never worn Canadian colors.

I disagree, I think the other sports make more stands. Baseball can have pink bats on mother's day, NFL can have no racism in the end zone,

The NHL is absolutely paralyzed, they can't do anything. If one player won't wear a pride jersey, nobody can wear a pride jersey. And they can't even sell their pride jersey. I wanted to buy the Flames pride and chinese new year jerseys, not for sale.

That may be true but the NHL has never had pink gloves and they play nationally televised playoff games on the afternoon of Mother's Day. Baseball puts stuff on equipment, bases, the wall. The NHL can't even have a sticker.

I currently don't have a way to watch Sabres' games (Spectrum is somehow cracking down on outside-the-home logins so there goes me using dad's account to watch MSG+ this year...). Will pony up for ESPN+ if i can find a VPN that'll work at the router level so i can watch on our TVs.

* i'm going to the Sabres' opener on Thursday and trying to find out where i can buy some pride tape near me and somehow decorate my jersey...

That last part is dead on about the league's ideology or, at a minimum, priorities. When there were (minority in numbers) protests over anthems, no leagues stopped playing them to just skip the controversy.

So it's always tough to win when your goalie gives up 4 goals in less than 2 periods.

It's MUCH harder when both your goalies do so.

Gonna be a long season in San Jose, but I love that they are riding with kids like William Eklund and Thomas Bordeleau, instead of just a bunch of old vets.
