We were the Aeros so it makes too much sense for them to move here.

Third straight year for LA/Edmonton in the first round.

This year the playoffs look really wide open to me. There’s only a couple teams that don’t appear to have a decent chance.

Seems like this every year. Lightning, Avs and Knights, the last 3 winners, all start on the road.

I wondered if the bitching about support we’ve heard was just some ownership gamesmanship.

While that may be true, a vocal minority has criticized the Jets for complacency for awhile now.
the team.

The well-documented problem is that the minority has grown, the sellout streak is history and Winnipeg is now reporting a 27 percent decrease in season ticket sales over the last three years, from 13,000 to under 9,500.

fun fact

Sean Monahan is the only player in the league to play 83 games this regular season.

Cast aside by the Flames at 26 years old, with a 1st rounderer included! Then Montreal traded him and got another 1st rounder!

Netting the two trades of Monahan, to and from Montreal, the Canadians received two first round picks and a third rounder (and some good play from Monahan) for… nothing.

Apparently the deposits were only a hundred bucks a seat. And they haven’t announced prices for the actual season tickets yet.

Utahns are desperate for national attention. This place went crazy when a Hard Rock Café opened. So I think this’ll be a huge deal for a while.

Speaking of restraint, Wilson is clearly hunting Mika up high and I think it would be cool if someone were to stab Wilson with a skate blade.

Hate him too but he’s smart since the Rangers did the same thing to Crosby two years ago and when Trouba finally connected it arguably won them the series. Damn him!

The white-out thing they do in Winnipeg looks pretty cool on camera.

I think Anaheim does that in the playoffs, too. But it’s been a minute since the Ducks made the playoffs.

I justify this by believing that since I’m as harsh as anyone about Trouba or Rempe, it negates their dumb shit and I’m still a good and deserving fan.

Yes. Ignoring the above, especially Rempe since he seems to revel in his fuckups, these teams are super likeable. I hate Villanova and I’m still all in on these Knicks and especially Hart. Kreider winning a cup would mean more to me than any athlete of my lifetime except Henrik. You are welcome to join this ride.

I blame the Colorado GM for their loss. They’ve got as much high-end talent as any team, and they out-shot Winnipeg two to one. But they couldn’t overcome their lack of a goalie. Not a new problem - it’s been there for a couple seasons, now. Management should have found a decent replacement by now.

I’ll always love Georgie for punching DeAngelo straight off the roster but this goes for him like it has gone for Talbot and every goalie before and will go the same way if we lose Shesterkin in free agency … if you don’t have Benoit Allaire, you don’t have a Rangers goalie.

was thinking about you - the only game i watched this weekend and it was a good/lucky choice. man *I* was freaking out and literally not comfortable until the final whistle

also were you as surprised as i was that a. the goal counted and b. it was overturned that quickly (not saying it wasn't the right call - it was - but we didn't see the one angle for a while on the telecast and well, these things haven't gone well in the past ...)

It's just stupid. 20 years since, the NHL still doesn't have goalline technology. Antiquated sports like soccer, rugby and cricket are way ahead.

Yeah watching live I thought it was in and out off the back of the net, so when they showed the first replay of it just going post to post, and doing that weird curve, I was definitely tugging on the shirt collar there. Must have been one of those cases where they saw a certain angle before TV had it, and it was in, because I was really expecting a long review.

The Captain is back tonight!

(And for the record if Martinez is a healthy scratch as expected the Vegas lineup would be under the cap.)

Martinez is $5.5M so that’s a big chunk of it. Also I think the cap is 23 players in the regular season but the solution you (and others) have proposed — counting the 20 players dressed for postseason cap purposes — would also mean $4-5M is sitting in the press box.

ETA: I think that’s the best “solve” for the LTIR thing though who knows what the NHLPA will say about it. I don’t want to belabor the point too much but the NHL monitors ALL LTIR transactions very carefully to prevent chicanery.

Yes, the NHL monitors it super tight yet every year multiple contenders have players who get healthy right in time for game 1 of the playoffs. C’mon. It’s smart to use it; you don’t have to pretend it’s legit.

I’m legitimately wondering how much sooner Stone could have theoretically returned last year and this year. Last year was back surgery in late December and this year he went out at the middle of February with an injury that historically athletes have needed 2 to 3 months to heal from.

In either year probably only a week or two sooner at best.
