NFL Week 9 - Halfway Done

That Eagles schedule for the next six weeks is brutal.

And it would have to have been done by today but kind of stunned they didn’t flex out that Week 10 Sunday night game between the Jets and Raiders. That is going to be a dog of a game.

Jets games are getting good TV ratings and the Week 11 game is likely going to get flexed (Vikings-Broncos)

the top contender for a game to get flexed would seem to be 49ers-Jaguars, but I wonder if they're waiting on using the last 49ers game somewhere else. after that, it'd be Browns-Ravens, but Ravens play Thursday night in Week 11 and Browns-Steelers looks like the top flex candidate then anyway

tl;dr I think it's simply because the schedule didn't work out well

Not a GREAT game to swap into. Browns/Ravens or Jags/Niners? Maybe they just wanted to go to Vegas again.

ETA - I had dog issues or would have beaten bronto

That's great and all but the Jets are absolutely unwatchable and unless the Raiders hire Jeff Saturday they aren't interesting either. The under on that game is gonna be like, 19.5.

Zach Wilson was dueled to a near stalemate by the Giants not passing.

a game could be 3-2 and if lots of people tune in and ratings aren't significantly down from a week/month/year ago, it's a win for the network

But will the next game after the 3-2 game still have the same ratings, is the question. We just had the 3-2 game.

Do you guys think there's a correlation between a team being on Hard Knocks and ratings... or is this just a function of a team sitting in the NYC market kind of always is going to pull good numbers?

My numbers like the Steelers tonight. My head though thinks the Titans will run all over them, and QBs like Levis absolutely kill this team. They haven't stopped any variation of Blake Bortles in like 30 years.

Kenny can’t hit an open receiver and Levis doesn’t have time to throw (but made a least one nice pass when he did).

The Holcomb injury didn’t look good.

Levis seems a worthy heir apparent to Tannehill. They seem to share each others faults and strengths

The backwards throw where he was saved by being sacked first was something

Damn, it didn't really look like Burks took that hard of a bump. That really sucks.

Al Michaels is a pathetic shell of himself. It’s obvious he just wants this game to be over.

I guess I have had a more favorable impression of Levis in the first few games than "he's another Tannehill". I mean, he might be, and that has been a very decent NFL qb type, but he makes some really hard throws look easy and hasn't been overmatched at all. And primetime short week in Pittsburgh is a nasty assignment for any qb much less one making his second ever start and I thought he was pretty damn good.

Yeah, Levis looks good, especially when compared to Pickett spraying short outs 10 feet over the WR's heads.

I would note though that while he had a lot of great throws, I don't think he hit a single guy who wasn't wide tf open and that kinda showed in the 2nd half. I don't have All-22 to confirm but I can't imagine he needed to take all of those hits.

EDIT: Did anyone notice Pickett pausing mid-scramble to adjust the ball in his hands to throw? I don't notice any other QBs doing that.

The Steelers meanwhile are addicted to the 1995 model of setting up an offense entirely to convert 3rd and 2.

He slammed his head hard as hell on the ground...there's gotta be something they can do to stop this from happening so often. Bring back neck rolls!

He is maligned, at a minimum.

If anyone gets this, god bless you.

Even as a Steelers fan, I find it hilarious and amazing that they are 5-3. They never look good.

It's sadly what the Patriots aspired to be this year but haven't pulled off. I blame the schedules.

I don't think it helps that Herbstreit is basically a tourist in the NFL, showing his general unfamiliarity with the league, specifically the players.

Fair, but I did like the note that Herbstreit hosted Vrabel for his official visit to OSU.

Best record through 8 games for a team that has been out-gained every game. It's not even like they're disciplined or anything...in fact the opposite.

George Pickens, who had 2 catches for -1 yard wrote "Free Me" on IG today and unfollowed the entire Steelers offense. This is a player that somehow managed not to score a TD on this play...

It’ll never stop killing me how much Jerloma hates Tomlin. Just wait until the Steelers eventually have an actually bad head coach.

Three coaches since the year before I was born (1969).

And Tomlin has the highest Win% of those 3. I think he has the 12th best winning percentage of any NFL coach with at least 10 years. And a bunch of those guys ahead of him finished coaching over 45 years ago.

It seems to me that Tua absolutely led Hill into that strip-six TD by the Chiefs. If you’re not going to look off the DBs, then you at least have to recognize the ones that are poised to bury your WR in the flat.
