wlu_lax6 asking Jeeves about seeing the Alamo's Basement

Post by wlu_lax6 »

So going to a conference in San Antonio the week of Valentines. Won't have a car but staying right at riverwalk. Spurs are away and the Rampage no longer exist. Any places to hit?

The rodeo is at the AT&T Center. Rodeo each night followed by a concert

If you’ve never been to a rodeo, you should check it out. Think of yourself as a sociologist visiting a different culture.

REK is fun, too.

Going down there tomorrow night so I’ll let you know. Pinkerton’s BBQ is downtown and is very good.

The places I know aren’t downtown generally.

And yes, do the rodeo. REK is a legend.

I've seen the rodeo a few times but not as big as that. Eagle, CO and Lexington, VA. I learned it is bad form to root for the bulls and mutton bustin if the kids have personality is the best.

I like REK but thought he retired.

He quit touring, but I think he lives in Kerrville, so San Antonio is like in his backyard.

So does Kinky Friedman. Doubt we will get a surprise duet.
