Re: NFL Swampcrash 2023 - Week 17
You're all welcome. There is one more week of the regular season, in case there's anyone conditioned to thinking Week 17 is it and hadn't written questions yet I mean thought their season was over.

Re: NFL Swampcrash 2023 - Week 17
Gotta do the Jordan shoulder shrug on that one. I threw together an answer last night, without too much thought. Only one I gave a lot of thought to was the football question—was very inclined to say Notre Dame but decided against.
Re: NFL Swampcrash 2023 - Week 17
Good game Shirley, thanks again Ryan!
Did you see that ludicrous display last night?
Re: NFL Swampcrash 2023 - Week 17
I'd heard of two and thought everyone would pick Jurassic.
well this is gonna be someone's new signature - bronto

I was wondering if Jackie Robinson was going to count, since the "42" is retired by MLB, not by the teams themselves.Ryan wrote: ↑Fri Jan 05, 2024 12:48 pm Q8 - Name a PLAYER whose number has been retired by the Seattle Mariners, Arizona Diamondbacks, or San Diego Padres (12)

Re: NFL Swampcrash 2023 - Week 17
You see the effects of this hit in every commercial that Montana does. It's my favorite ever game, so I was always going to answer it. Just surprised to see a bunch of recent games over the old classics. Like Jets-Dolphins when Shula took the tarp off the field. That's the kind of thinking that gets you a chain of steakhouses

I also just realized the tuck rule game wasn't a conference championship game..I'm not good at this.

Re: NFL Swampcrash 2023 - Week 17
No, but I thought the Steelers game the next week had a chance. Wasn't that the game where Bledsoe had to save the day for that bum Brady?
Re: NFL Swampcrash 2023 - Week 17
I was only not confident that Buffalo vs Cincinnati was a conference final where I should have been not confident about the round AND about it being Cincinnati rather than Kansas City.

Re: NFL Swampcrash 2023 - Week 17
Looked at it but can't do much without a schedule showing me all the previous results. There is a chance that Duff has already clinched, as he has beaten me and either Brian or Bronto (whoever lost in week 3) would also be eliminated. It would then come down to win% in common games between Duff and one of the B's.

Re: NFL Swampcrash 2023 - Week 17
I went with Niners-Cowboys...but I'm stunned that the Seahawks-Niners game in 2014 (the one with the Richard Sherman tip interception to end the game, and then went full-on about Michael Crabtree to Erin Andrews) didn't make the list.Ryan wrote: ↑Fri Jan 05, 2024 12:15 pm Q2 - Name one of the 10 greatest AFC or NFC Conference Championship games, according to an average I compiled from 5 different lists (9)
CORRECT
Falcons-Vikings (MINUS-1) - GPJ
Giants-49ers (2) - Enoch, Rex
Colts-Patriots (4) - BSF, Syb, Tony, Trav
Broncos-Browns (6) - AB, Bronto, Duff, GoodKarma, Pruitt, Sancarlos
49ers-Cowboys (7) - Brian, Carwash, DiS, Giff, Jerloma, Nonlinear, Rass
INCORRECT (12)
Only gave one team - BFJ, Citgo
Steelers-Raiders - DSafe, Shirley
Chargers-Bengals - Bengal
Bills-Browns - Cerrano
Packers-Cowboys - Chedda
Seahawks-Packers - LJam
Bengals-Bills - Mister D
Packers-Vikings - PDX
Patriots-Raiders - Romero
Steelers-Colts - Rush
LEFTOVERS
Saints-Vikings
Giants-Packers
Patriots-Chiefs
Bengals-Chiefs
For that matter, surprised that the Hawks-Packers game the next year (with the fake punt TD, the onside kick, and then the long pass to Jermaine Kearse to win in OT) also wasn't on the list.
Re: NFL Swampcrash 2023 - Week 17
Yeah, I also learned that but that was a complete guess anyway. I'm actually surprised I'm the only person who missed on that though.

Lots of geography nerds in these parts. I still periodically do the Sporcle continents games to make sure I can still name all the countries on every continent

Re: NFL Swampcrash 2023 - Week 17
One thing swampcrash does is periodically remind me I am pretty terrible at geography. I am either wrong or on the most popular answer it feels like every time.
Re: NFL Swampcrash 2023 - Week 17
Compared to the general American populace, I suspect I'm at least in the 95 percentile for geography. Bottom half of the Swamp though.tennbengal wrote: ↑Sun Jan 07, 2024 10:33 am One thing swampcrash does is periodically remind me I am pretty terrible at geography. Welp. Looks like AJ Brown just blew out his knee. At least Amon-Ra can get his Pro bowl bonus now.
My avatar corresponds on my place in the Swamp posting list with the all-time Home Run list. Number 45 is Paul Konerko with 439.
