Now I wish the niners got a TD and celebrated like they won.

This guy has now blown 3 huge leads in Super Bowls - 2 as a head coach and of course the 28-3 game as an OC.
is 10 points in the first half really a huge lead?

Well, when he was urging KC to spike the ball to save time ("15 seconds") prior to the field goal at the end of the fourth quarter, about a second after he shut up, you could see Pacheco come into frame, running back across the field and line of scrimmage, then get set for the snap.
That one bothered me. I've always wondered on a play like that where a WR goes out for a 50 yard pass, can they just run off the field and have a different player sub on so they don't have to run 50 yards back?
defense gets the opportunity to sub -- and more clock gets used

Huge is maybe overselling it but substantial. I don’t know the record of teams with 10-pt leads n the first half but it’s better than 0-for-3.

No Sybian nailed it when he mentioned the disorienting nature of not knowing the rules can have a negative impact on your ability to win the game.

Also it smacks of Shanahan NGAF enough to explain the rules beforehand the way the KC staff did all the way back in the preseason.

May have had a perfect season if they inflated the K balls properly in Foxboro.

Thank you, that makes a lot of sense.

This really would have been amazing, and obviously a much bigger indictment, especially if the staff celebrated like they won.

I love how the new overtime rules cause so much debate. Very much overdue.

Some questions to discuss.

1. If you win the coin toss, do you kick or receive?

The consensus seems to be to kick, you want to know what you have to do. Although, I would still receive because I believe in scoreboard pressure. That might be a wrong and antiquated view on my part.

Shannahan stated he chose to receive because he wanted the ball 3rd. But the team with the ball 2nd would prevent a 3rd possession at all costs.
Maybe Shannahan saw a defensive struggle and was hoping for 2 punts.

What that in mind.

2. If you're down 7 and score a TD, do you go for 2?

I think this one is obvious, you go for 2. Much higher chance than defending a 3rd possession. Kickers are so good now, they only need to get to the opponents 40 (57 yd FG)

3. If you're down by 3 and it's 4th and 3 at the opponents 20, what do you do?

Not as obvious. Short FG but you're trying to prevent a 3rd possession.

4. The game is tied and it's 4th and 3 on your own 30, what do you do?

Again, you're trying to prevent a 3rd possession.

Not sure it offsets the percentages but defense is called differently trying to prevent all points on 3rd possession. Defense is first stop run and don't get beat deep. Not the priorities. Anything to get ahead of downs and get a stop. Probably punt to 4th possession inside own 40 if 4th and 4+

Stop run and don't get beat deep is probably going to get you diced up over the middle pretty quickly, though. You arguably need to risk getting beat deep because essentially the endzone is on the 35 yard line now.

That's throwing up on the field during the game.

Terrible that as good as he was, two things I remember about him is the puking in the Super Bowl and his not knowing that regular season OT games could end in a tie.

FWIW, he's also someone who you wouldn't want driving you back from the bar. To me, that's the most damning thing.

Two quarterbacks before McNabb at Syracuse, Marvin Graves was the starter. The biggest game of his career, he was vomiting on the field while trying to lead a comeback against a top-ranked 10-0 Miami team (SU was 9-1 and #5) in his last home game.

Three yards short.
