Recently I learned she got her GED only when she decided to run for office. Now I'm not saying you can't be successful without a formal education, but I am saying that some of the shit she does does not leave me surprised that she was a high school dropout.

It gets to this point because for 4 years all day, every day the media pumped Trump doom and gloom (which they were right to, but it also has a monetary effect on their bottom line so it was financially advantageous too) and it keeps people filled with anxiety and fear leading to the motivation to assemble against him.

There's no longer that threat and hey, it's California! Land of fruits and nuts and Democrats. Everyone else will vote against recalling Newsom, so why should I?

Complacency, man. Republicans, like the Taliban, just have to wait.

Yet likely effective in a state as blue as California. It would be way riskier to legitimize the recall by putting up a “real” candidate.
