I hate that she had to out herself, but that WaPo story, with her name and the details of the story, has to help her cause. Right? Probably not enough to make a difference, but at the very least, it helps brand this guy, just like Clarence Thomas is forever branded. Granted, Thomas has been a justice for decades now and Kavanaugh will probably follow him, but maybe the story will stick to Kavanaugh as well.

Maybe they can at least get her to testify.

Flake and Corker are calling for a delay until she can tell her story. Whether or not that makes a difference, it's something.

I heard the delay is really because they don't yet have the votes to confirm.

This. Fuck them. They go low and steal a mutherfucking Supreme Court seat and now want to give this fucker a lifetime seat to the same court. Fuck right off if you're clutching your pearls about how this is going down.

Murkowski told my mom last week that she’s a no, but she hasn’t said anything like that publicly so who knows.

Yeah, because cussing is so much worse than "moving on married women like a bitch" and forcing kisses on them and grabbing them by the pussy. But you all know that... Anyone see Michael Avenatti on Tucker Carlson? They kept putting things like "Creepy Porn Lawyer" under him, and Tucker kept bashing him for representing a porn star. I can't watch Tucker for more that 10 seconds, so I just saw screen shots, but I really hope Avenatti responded that he is representing a client on a false inducement into signing a contract, while Carlson's almighty President fucked the same porn star without a condom a couple months after his wife gave birth. Let's weigh the creepy factor of their involvement with a porn star...

He should tweet that link out with a photo of him eating BBQ with a cheesy tagline like "we're hungry for your votes and we won't be full until November 7th" or something.

He also should've gone to hair salons and restaurants that serve tofu and did photo ops with voters in the community. Trolling and being petty is effective.

You gotta love how the Democratic Party regularly accuses Trump of treason and/or of being controlled by Putin, and then their Senators vote unanimously to give him a massive military budget.

Unfortunately that's less about Trump and how stupid your average American is. Criticizing military budgets or military spending is the one true red line in this country. God forbid you question why we spend $2,000 for every man, woman and child in this country on building bombs and pay people to drop them and paying for guns and paying people to shoot them at brown people.

The US pumps hundreds of billions into unnecessary weaponry and then gets pissed off when other nations don't keep up with their military spending.

The other issue is that military manufacturers spread their workforce across numerous Congressional Districts, so 30 Reps can say they brought jobs to their districts by voting for an unnecessary high tech weapon that the military doesn't even want. Conversely, any Congressmen who vote against military expenditure get blamed for lost jobs.

I take a bit of an issue with "unnessecary weaponry." A lot of the tech we take for granted have today has its roots in the military. Is there some waste? Certainly. I guess I don't see military spending as just throwing money away.

We spend more on defense spending than the next 14 countries in the world combined, 13 of whom are allies. I'm pretty sure we could easily shave $200 billion from defense spending and still have plenty of bombs and guns left over to obliterate most of the planet.

On a related note, this is appalling:

Yemen is a humanitarian disaster and yet we’re more concerned with enriching US defense contractors than the atrocities the Saudis are committing. This is why no one takes the US seriously when we raise concerns about other countries’ human rights issues.

It does wrap around the block. Stayed in an AirBnB nearby a few years ago for a long weekend. Only time it looked like there was a chance we could have eaten there (barring standing outside for 4-5 hours starting at about 8am) was actually a private event.

I'm a proud owner of a Franklin's shirt (as it is my name) - my brother-in-law went on a trip to Texas a couple of years ago for football and BBQ. They waited 3 hours to eat. Reviews were great, but the consensus was that no meal is worth waiting for 3 hours.

Yeah...I'm sure its great, but there's no way in hell I'd stand in line that long for any restaurant. I'm sure in Austin there are probably at least 5 or 6 BBQ places that are within 95% as good, and without the wait.

Some time ago we had an interesting discussion in the Swamp Album Draft thread regarding the song California Stars by Wilco and Billy Bragg.

I was caused to remember that discussion just now because I saw a commercial on tv advertising Gavin Newsom's candidacy for governor of California, and heard Jeff Tweedy's voice singing the campaign's theme song in the background.... You guessed it.

How the fuck did Beto not run out from behind his podium and punch Cruz in his giant blobfish face? Cruz kept blatantly lying and intentionally twisting Beto's positions into insane scare tactic dystopian death wishes, all while giving Beto his creepy alien attempting to look human smile. Beto is a better man than I am, because I can't look at Cruz without my blood boiling.

I was thinking the same thing. But, then again they probably have a great time, because they don't invite their brother.
