My beef with Woodstock as some kind of truly counter-cultural moment is I’ll bet you more than 50 percent of people who attended still alive in 2016 probably voted for Trump.

I’d amend that to “more than 50% still alive abstained or voted for Jill Stein”

As bad as Trump is, McConnell is really the fucker who is killing democracy.

Meanwhile in Israel...

Netanyahu's decade-long rule in doubt as coalition talks falter

A far less nuanced take from Ha'aretz...

Netanyahu’s Darkest, Deepest Fear Just Came True
What makes him a loser is that he is a man with no honor. None.

Here is a man whose every word, every facial expression, every argument, every belief, is a false front. There is not one cell of principle in him.

You needn’t look any deeper than his eyes: His life is falsehood and hatred. His work is falsehood and hatred. His legacy is falsehood and hatred.
Under Netanyahu, Israel itself has come to stand for falsehood and hatred. His campaign could not have been more straightforward: Without exception, anyone who does not vote for him is of The Left and therefore a trafficker with Arabs, who are themselves, without exception, ardent backers of terror. All of them, Jew and non-Jew alike, are Uncitizens. They are not, cannot be, part of The People.

Except, of course, for those who vote instead for the Kahanists, the pedophile protectors, the subjugators and apartheidists and faux believers in the rule of law, who have all agreed to take his bribes and breach the public trust in return for backing the laws that will exempt him from going to trial and prison for bribery and breach of the public trust.

So I don't know if you guys heard about Congressman Chip Roy's latest escapades last night.

I felt compelled to write his office. I had to be deceitful and claim to be a constituent to get access to send an email through his House website, but here it goes:
Dear Congressman Roy:

Your comments last night on CNN on Chris Cuomo's show regarding dying children were callous and devoid of any Christian values. When given the opportunity to show even a modicum of empathy for dying children, you punted. Coupling that with your refusal to allow emergency funds to go to families impacted by natural disasters post haste shows that you are clearly unfit to manage a lemonade stand, yet alone be a Congressman. I will be donating to the campaign of whoever runs against you in 2020. And so you know, I actually live in Southeastern Pennsylvania, a battleground state. I will vote early, and then spend the rest of that Election Day driving older black ladies in North and West Philadelphia to the polls, making every effort that your un-American cabal of amoral fiends you call the GOP loses at every possible turn.

And so you know, I was a Republican for quite a long time. When your entire party kowtowed to a failed steak salesman, you gave me no option but to leave it and make my entire political life's goal your party's default.

Very truly yours,

A concerned American.

I tried (again), and I just can't listen to Kulinski. His whiny voice, arrogance, and annoying play-acting just grate on me too much. I've completely agreed with everything I've ever heard him say, but man does he annoy the fuck out of me. It's a shame, because he is an intelligent guy with a great point of view, he just needs to get out of his own way and stop trying so hard to be funny or hip. I also feel like he is imitating Rachel Maddow, but mostly the parts of her schtick that annoy me.

Excellent post, Johnie. Doesn't get nearly enough attention, with Trump being so openly horrid. Trump provides the perfect smoke screen and misdirection, drawing all the press' attention, while McConnell does the real damage.Fuck them all. Whether Trump wins or loses in 2020, taking control of the Senate is necessary.

Matt Schlapp -- yes, seriously -- has also been mentioned because he's a Kansas native and still has an address in the state

The false outrage from the Cheneys is expected but it's disgusting that Todd and others play along with this. There will be so many history books about this horrible era, if humanity still exists. The failure of the media will be among them.

I can't believe I haven't realized this before, but Matt Gaetz is the living embodiment of Jonah Ryan. Every time he opens his stupid mouth he makes an ass of himself. The first 2 or 3 minutes of this drags on, but the payoff is worth it. The look on the kids face when the witness responds is priceless.

16 tons is insane. Entire cities have to be dry. How many hits have to be out in North Philly after this... But congrats to the feds. This is the work everyone wants the police to do, not cutting up sofas and mattresses only to walk away and leave Grandma's house in shambles.

No one's getting whacked in Philly over this, but there's probably already some Colombians and/or Panamanians getting dead right now. (The cartels "insure" drug shipments until delivery. These were never delivered so probably cost a billionaire drug kingpin in Colombia about $50M or so.)
