I suppose you are all on pins and needles anticipating the really big game of the week, on Saturday... - Colorado State vs. Colorado! How big is it? It might be the best opportunity either of them have all season to win a game! Rocky Mountain High! (Go, Rams!)

Oh I'm watching. Always hopeful Millen will have a stroke on the air. So stupid of them to hype a true freshman. At least Clowney has a track record.

5-3 Warriors over USC in the 2Q (or maybe it's inning.)

I watched a bit of this last night while waiting for the Titans Vikings game and feck me they were all over him like a rash!

First they circled him, tell you he is No.7, tell you how great he is and then they followed the play. Then they slow mo his part in that play. They did this all game, except they decided not to circle him live pre-snap all the time.

Don't get me wrong, he is a great athlete and maybe he deserves the hype, but I am old enough to have seen LT, Bruce Smith and Reggie play and until he plays a down on Sunday, he is just another guy.

I think that was kind of Tom's point. Over the years, there have been many dominant college d-linemen. Clowney's play in the bowl game last year was epic and he deserves accolades as a great college player. But, many of those did not prove to be dominant in the pros. Tom is saying he will reserve judgment on Clowney's purported greatness until he sees him at the next level. As example, old guys like howard and hdo may remember a guy named Hugh Green who was an absolute beast in college, but just another guy in the pros.
ETA: I just checked wiki and found that Hugh Green did make two pro bowls in his eleven year career, so I suppose it is unfair for me to call him "just another guy", but in any case, he wasn't nearly the beast in the pros that he was in college.

Actually, his play in the bowl game was mediocre. Taylor Lewan was handling him for most of the game. He had one big hit that was incredible and built upon his legend. Most every game he played last year was better than his bowl game.

Yeah, that hit may have turned the casual observer onto him, but Clowney was a huge deal well before that play.

His highschool highlight tape looks like someone created a 7' tall 99 speed player in Madden.

While you're not going to find me saying the hype around Clowney isn't overblown, the dude is a freaking stud, as melted-weiner just said.

However, given the attention paid to him by opposing offenses, I would have taken the under like crazy at Bovada on 18.5 sacks this season. (He had 13 last year)

Damn. The first few minutes are incredible.

Actually, I'm sure the rest is as well, but it gets repetitive. It reminds me of reading about Julius Peppers being a 6'7" 280lb running back in high school. I might have to see if there's tape of that ...

Just to be clear, actually, I was referring to the one highlight reel play, when I said "his play". I didn't even see the game, and wasn't referring to his play over the course of the game.

FCS Eastern Washington taking it to OSU in Corvallis, 43-39 in the fourth. Sure, it's only the Beavers, but they are (were) ranked 25th. If the small school can force a punt, which they haven't since the first half, they might win this mess.

Good buddha the faux moral indignation surrounding Manziel is annoying. He got an unsportsmanlike penalty, he did not piss on a quadriplegic six year old visiting College Station for their Make a Wish wish (worst dying with ever, btw).

Georgia announced today that its best receiver, Malcolm Mitchell, blew out his ACL and is gone for the season. He blew the ACL celebrating in the end zone following Todd Gurley's 75 yd touchdown run on Georgia's second series vs. Clemson. It may not be the Dawg's year.

On the other hand, I was surprised UGA opened as 5.5 pt favorite over South Carolina last night. Its already down to three, but it may be one of those head scratcher lines where hopefully the Vegas guys know a litle something.
