The Mets demoted RP Robert Carson late last night.

just a few hours before the roster expanded to 40 players.

I love that.

How about this one?...The last time the Red Sox scored at least 20 runs in a game their opponent went on to win the World Series later that year.

Yeah if he stays healthy Bush should have a monster year. Maybe close to 2,000 yards rush & rec combined.

Yesterday while watching the Bucs blow the first chance at 82 at the Foxboro Pub, the Sox hit a grand slam and the bartender missed it so he asked who. I said "the guy without the beard that isn't Stephen Drew", cause, well, I didn't know who the fuck it was. He said "Middlebrooks?".

So, yeah, their beards are a thing.

Staches. Not beards. And this was before the porn-stache became a cliche thing.

ETA: ok, Reggie had a beard. But that was Reggie being Reggie. Before that was a thing.

One thing you can bank on, guaranteed, is that if you are interested in watching something on television that is scheduled immediately after the three hour allotment of broadcast time for a Red Sox -v- Yankees game . . . you ain't seeing it.

Tigers had TWO guys go 5-for-5 against the Royals tonight. Wondering how many times that has happened in MLB history.

Good question. Oddly, Butler went 5-for-5 yesterday for the Royals (all singles).

Tigers were 13-for-26 with runners in scoring position. Not too shabby.

Had Eric Chavez offered at the wicked 2-2 split last night, Yusmeiro Petit would've had his perfect game. He would've been the sixth Venezuelan to pitch a no-hitter in MLB. (Seventh had Gallaraga not been robbed.)

Name the five Venezuelans to hurl no-no's. Fernando Valenzuela does not count.

2.

2. Carlos Zambrano
3.
4.
5.

None of the others involved the Mets, so Kranepool finishes with 2 points.

Miguel Cabrera tossed in the middle of an AB for the second time this year. Baseball umpires are just the worst.

I love ump shows.

The call wasn't necessarily even wrong, but...what could he have said that was so bad? Let him chirp for 10 seconds.

Did you see Sale's reaction? It was hilarious.

Yeah, I wish he'd keep his mouth shut, but if you're going to run Cabrera, run all the other guys who do it too. You can probably count the number of in-at bat ejections on one hand this year and umpires are tossing the best hitter in the game in the first inning twice!? And MLB is OK with that? It's ridiculous.

Well put.

I missed the Farnsworth pickup. Hopefully they won't need him to do what he did yesterday too often.
