I enjoyed it, too. As weird as Billy Bob looked in the opening de-aged scenes, he was a full-on silver fox in the "current" scenes.

Some of the action was a little muddled, though. Like the plane scene. No one will ever touch Point Break, but if you can't at least reach MI:Fallout heights why bother?

In the last episode of the second season, he goes to a surprise location. We ate at the Nonas’ restaurant, and it was as good as advertised.

Watched the 3 episode documentary about Woodstock '99 called Trainwreck.

It was a good complement to the HBO documentary from last summer about the same topic, but not better.

Just so crazy how bad that got. It was the OG Fyre Fest. Everything was actually on fire though.

I still shake my head at how the whole thing was pulled off. The organizers were in their own little bubble. Reminded me a bit of military planning. Fitting it was on a former military base.

It's just so weird to watch 10 years after the fact. There's almost this credence given to the participants of the charade, so you kinda feel awkward watching it.

Nope. But they did mention the whirlwind of hoopla surrounding it and how it jumped from a sports story to a news story and took on a life of its own.

Honestly, at the end of episode 2, I felt like it was a partial redemption story for main culprit Ronaiah (now just known as Naya because she's a trans woman) more than anything. Which didn't make too much sense to me.

The Te'o story falls in the category of "I was so deeply into that story at the time and still remember most of the details" so why watch a documentary on it. I dunno. So much to watch, so little time.

That said, I will absolutely be watching one of the 99 Woodstock docs. I THOUGHT another platform had done something, so thanks for the reminder.

Summer of 99 I was a legal intern at the Massachusetts Dept of Corrections (so much fun defending pro-se lawsuits from inmates). There was one undergrad intern and she went to Woodstock and was trying to get me to go with her and her friends. Not that I gave it any real consideration, but watching the clusterfuck unfold on the news made me happy I have good judgment. The undergrad intern had no filter in sharing her stories, and they were fucked up, starting with trying to show us pictures when she already told us she went naked most of the weekend. She also showed up for our tour of a SuperMax prison wearing a short skirt and lowcut shirt despite several warning to dress modestly.

I think I may have posted this previously, but a couple months ago, I watched the HBO doc on Woodstock 99, while on a lonnnng flight from London to San Francisco. Lots of bare breasts on screen at my aisle seat, which got me feeling a bit awkward at times, as people walked by.

Turned on the Netflix version last night. Holy shit.

First off, just going by the headliners, which I'd forgotten how DoucheBroHardRock the lineup was... You had to know things were going to get very gnarly. I'd also completely forgotten the setting (AF base, soooo much tarmac = heat). What a hellscape. Shouting at Cheryl Crow to show her tits? And I'm pretty

As has been said many times, the organizers were both clueless and greedy and it was such a disaster waiting to happen. Also... So much whiteness. Pretty crazy how NOT diverse it was.

Right, but they weren't hopped up on goofballs in 99, they were hopped up on cheap beer and... Compound V?? I dunno, it was the opposite of chill.

No greater disparity of whiteness than when DMX performed. This wasn't in the Netflix version and I think only kinda touched on in the HBO version.

Skip to 6:09 for retroactive awkwardness.

Edit:

I got curious about who was performing because I remember so many more acts when I was watching on my aunt's black box at her house and found a link that had the entire weekend lineup.

Here's a link to an eBay auction of a poster with everything listed nicely.

The entirety of that lineup trumps anything Coachella, Bonnaroo, Lollapalooza...etc is putting together these days. So many damn headliners.

And that Saturday Night was Limp Bizkit into Rage Against The Machine into Metallica. Like, holy shit. I'm kinda annoyed that wasn't a focus of the documentary. Of course Limp Bizkit would be talked about, but more context would've been nice.

Yeah, I remember Woodstock ‘99 and laughing at the thought of going to see a bunch of angry douchebro metal bands headlining what was sure to be a shitfest. The fact it wound up being an assault-infused hellscape of a weekend didn’t surprise me in the least. You could’ve had the right level of commitment for the infrastructure (water, bathing stations, toilets, etc) and it would’ve been the same shit show.

Not sure if I brought this up in another thread, but I feel like I did. Anyway Purple Hearts. Jesus Christ.

What an absolute garbage movie. It's so, so bad. It's seriously about a local marrying a Marine for the extra money and health care just before he deploys.

Not an unheard of tale of 'love' in the military, but my gawd. It's just a Nicholas Sparks book mixed with a Hallmark rom-com with better production quality.

He's a righty and she's a lefty to boot. Just a total fraud and sham marriage, but they end up falling in love for real.

Netflix’s smash-hit romance Purple Hearts is a political hate-watch

Anyway, there's just not enough swearing and everyone's too pretty. And the Marine dude is in debt to this drug dealer loser guy to the tune of $15K but you don't know why. Plus, if you know about free health care and housing allowance but not the combat zone tax exclusion and hazard pays when deploying, like WTF were the writers thinking? Then they make out their sham marriage to be this REALLY BIG DEAL THEY WILL BE INVESTIGATED FOR AT THE FIRST WHIFF OF FRAUD. The Marine's dad is also a retired Marine MP that totally acts like he's still in the Corps! Oooh scary. I could go on. But ehhhhhh.

If you decide to watch, do it for the lolz.

Edit:

And one other thing: not a single fucking crayon was ingested. Total bullshit.
