Enjoying a Stone Enjoy By 4.20.13 IPA. Very nice.

Prefer it to Pliny.

Taste tested Heady Topper against Deviant Dale's this past weekend. Heady was better but only by a slight margin.
Had a Stone Enjoy by 12.26.14 on 12.27.14...really liked it for a day old beer.

Carefully planned evening (wife has had her gin and tonic, will be asleep by 10).

Image Which I am halfway through - fantastic.

A couple of drams of the good stuff...

Image

Washed down with a monstrous Imperial Stout...

And maybe another dram while watching whatever college football game is on.

Kids, this is New Year's Eve in your 50's. Could be worse, but New Year's in sweat pants isn't as glamorous as you'd think...

I'm not hammered, but I do have my grey house pants (pajama bottoms, technically I guess) on. And aside from a kick ass Kentucky Wildcats shirt I got, these pants are easily my favorite Christmas present of this year.

Had that (just a pint though) at the bar.

Drinking a Founder's All Day IPA because it's in the fridge, tastes good, and less likely to put me right to sleep than wine or liquor.

Had to go with the cry-it-out method with the baby earlier. About to transition to the pyjama pants. Then, a beverage. Still to come: sleep.

It was NYE, give the kid a bit of bourbon to let him/her sleep. Congrats on the baby.

Love me some Double Jack. Still have one Wooky Jack left over from New Years Eve. Finally tried a wet hopped beer last night, Sierra Nevada Harvest Northern Hemisphere. Really interesting, wish I tried more harvest beers before the season passed. I'm sure they are still hanging around, but they supposedly go downhill after a few months. Also had a Sierra Nevada Bigfoot (2013). It did mellow a bit with a year+ sitting. It has almost the perfect malt bordering on apple cider flavor I love. All barleywines are compared to my Boston haunt the Northeast Brewpub. That was pretty much the perfect beer for me, also my first barleywine, so all others are measured by that and Thomas Hardy, which I am devastated that it is no longer made. If Bigfoot cut down the hops a little bit, I would love the beer, but I still really like it. With the cellar time, the alcohol taste was completely gone.

Out of the cheap whiskey. What should I mix with my Wawa 1/2 lemonade 1/2 iced tea? A too good for it bourbon or too good for it rye? Something else? I don't think I have unflavored vodka...

Budweiser at work. Just went to the weed shop and got some top-shelf sativa, so that's imminent.

3,600 second IPA. And it's awesome.

Tonight is the kind of night where I think a couple bottles of Pliny, a couple cans of grapefruit sculpin and one or two cigars is on deck. We'll see.

Who is on untappd? PM your name and I'll link with you.

Right? Almost had to waste too good bourbon or rye... wait, why is Rass mixing good bourbon or rye with anything?

I think it's finally time to crack open a KBS. About to start the Women's WC game. If all goes well, I plan on chasing the KBS with some Lagavulin. If it goes poorly, Ledaig. Although this vodka talk has me thinking about a dirty martini. Haven't made one in years and I don't know if I have olives, but I do have a 1.75 on Belvedere. Those Poles sure know how to make good vodka.

In the bogo Sauv Blanc right now, and jealous that you can go to a weed store and say, "sativa, please". My guy just says he's got blue diesel or strawberry mind warp, etc. No direction re: sativa or indica.

Its mind boggling how much stuff is available. Glad that my place has an app so I can peruse the offerings before I go into purchase.

How does the out of state limit work on edibles?

Not sure, and a quick google wasn't helpful. Though my buddy still has a VT ID and was able to buy a number of drinks and 3-4 of the little lozenge packs. 1/4 per store per day on the smokables though.

I recently had a dark 'n stormy for the first time and I think I've found my new favorite mixed drink. Although, a Colfax Water from Baur's in Denver still might reign supreme.

This is my jam right now. Two-Hearted Al out of Michigan. Delicious.

Also a fan of Lagunitas' Day Time... was able to relax during the day with that and stay relatively on point.

I'm on a little G&T kick here too. What's the "right" gin for one? I got Bombay because that's what at Trader Joe's but I have no idea if that's good, bad, too good, whatever.

I've been drinking Sapphire for years, and never swerved to anything different. In writing this, I initially wanted to credit cerrano for that, but in thinking about it a little more, I think that's wrong and he's a Tanqueray guy. Or was at least.

In my gin and tonic history, I've had all three gins mentioned here and found them all to be fine. I also liked Gordon's too.

Tanqueray Ten is what you want. Regular will do as well. Had a nice Gin last night. Can't remember the name. It was from California and was fine without any mixer.

Ever had a shrub? Made a batch of Watermelon/Mint shrub juice about a week ago. Took some water, mixed with sugar, vinegar and mint, and let it percolate in the fridge.

Then took the pickled watermelon, and ran some through the blender. Put it in a Collins glass, along with white rum, ice, some of the shrub juice, and club soda.

Pretty darn refreshing...

Why waste very good gin on a gin and tonic? The tonic water is usually so strong that it overpowers the subtleties of the gin, so you might as well use a lower-quality gin. Gordon's is the perfect G&T gin for that reason. Save the Sapphires and Tanquerays for good martinis.
