You could certainly start with a disposable. The pros and cons of disposables typically break down as far as price (they're a bit more expensive usually for the same mg of concentrate) vs. convenience (not having to charge them and being able to just chuck them when you're done).
If not, you'll have to buy what the shops here at least call a battery, which is really just the base of the pen for which you buy the cartridges for. They're not expensive though. They run about $15 to $20 here. The more expensive ones include an adjustable voltage setting for increasing the amount of vapor you get. I prefer the adjustable, but the truth is I seldom adjust it as much as I thought I might.
You probably can't go wrong either way, but if you're thinking it's probably going to be a regular or semi-regular thing consider buying the battery and a cartridge to go with it. If not, start with the disposable and you can always just buy a battery later.
ETA: Don't hesitate to ask plenty of question to the person who helps you. That's what they're there for. I doubt they'll steer you wrong as long as you know what you're looking for for the most part going in.

That brings back a funny memory. When I was about 18, my buddy and I were going skiing on a very cold morning. We got the idea that if we smoked cheap cigars like those while we skiied, the smoke would blow back and warm our faces while we skied. Didn't work very well, and rather than a nice buzz, I got a headache.

I don’t use disposables. I buy a rechargeable battery that the cartridge screws into. It can be charged through any USB port. If anything I would buy one with adjustable settings. I think some of the concentrates tend to be thicker than others and the cheaper pens may not give you the best burn.

Yeah that’s accurate though the oils here seem to be getting better in that regard. But the adjustable voltage is nice when it gets thicker.

I've got both, and my favorite is a disposable from California called hmbldt. Their Bliss strain is a perfect sativa for me.

To be fair, the story in the next paragraphs basically says that it's unlikely any dogs would ever have to be euthanized. The dogs live with their handlers even after the dogs are retired and quite obviously are usually treated like a member of the family, no different than how any of us treat our dogs. So it would be fair to say, that that scenario is as likely as any of us choosing to move to a new state and instead of taking the dog with us (or at absolute worst finding a good home for it) choosing to just shoot it in the backyard.

I don't have time to read the article right now, but I find it hard to believe any agency would train a dog to detect only one drug. You can teach them to detect numerous things, and it isn't all that difficult to add a new trigger sent to the mix. I do believe some dogs are only trained to detect explosives, and others only drugs, but just one drug doesn't pass the smell test (sorry). Even if a dog was only trained to smell weed, you could very easily teach it to detect an additional drug, or explosives, or something else. And police dogs are socialized, because they need to be able to interact with the public when they aren't sniffing or bringing down perps.

Dispensary here in town is selling half-gram disposable pens two for $25 this weekend (regular price usually runs about $40 ea). Haven't seen any deals like this out here since rec went legal. Not even sure how they're making any money.

Regular spot is Nuwu Cannabis near downtown because they have a great location (easy on/off near the highway and down the street from the best brewery in town (Tenaya Creek), great prices and great selection (don't have to pay full state excise taxes because it's on tribal lands). The deal today was at a place called The Source, which is where I used to go when I had my medical card but not so much any more, so had an extra bonus of $12 on my account to apply towards my purchase.
Also a fan of Essence, but again since I've mostly going to Nuwu haven't been in awhile.

Will also almost certainly be legalized in Michigan and likely North Dakota as well in November. Support in Michigan is polling at around 60 percent in favor.

That is very mild compared to the warnings on cigarette packs up here - and doubtless, in true Canadian fashion, the wording was carefully consulted upon by a number of government committees. (Speculation, but I wouldn't be surprised)

My nearest government run cannabis retailer is an hour away, but in a town I go to pretty frequently. My wife and I aren't really pot smokers, but we could definitely be pot eaters.
Since we're probably a year or two away from edibles being sold at the cannabis stores, what are the best pot baking recipes? Do you literally just sprinkle some weed into a normal brownie or cookie recipe or is there more to it than that?
