I do so enjoy these songs, but I wonder if there's been a backlash in Korea over the content of some of these girl group videos.

not much backlash, the k-pop demographic is actually quite older, most in their 30s.
K-Pop isn't that popular with teenagers because parents there still have a lot of control over them and they don't have disposable income. Kids there don't work like they do here, they are too busy studying their ass off.

Had a meeting (Skype) with the producers and director of the Korean show that I'm developing. They decided that they want one of the characters to be obsessed with K-Pop. I laughed and told them that K-Pop videos make me feel like a dirty old man (there were three women and two men in the room. They all laughed and gave me permission to do as much research as I need!
