Water Heaters

Post by The Sybian »

Anyone have any suggestions or tips? I know I want to go 50 gallons. There is a huge price range and I am clueless. My current one is gas, and I assume that is better than electric, but I'm basing that on nothing at all.

We went 80 gallons in the new house. Four people, three women, 3.5 baths. Went as big as possible.

Gas ones get the water hotter faster from what I tell and allow you to go with a smaller capacity because of that I believe. We are in an all-electric neighborhood (COAL!) so that's why we went larger. The 50 gallon in the townhouse was not cutting it, also electric.
My gall is sufficiently mitigated. Thank you for your concern.

We just got a new one (see the home owners thread). We went with whatever the contractor recommended, and I think it was just 40 gallons.

Make sure you look up the NJ Warm rebate program.
