My built in webcam is no longer working, but the light comes on indicating that it is. I last used Zoom to record a thing for school in July, so I feel like it's something I can fix.

I've done all of the things Windows support has requested me to do in terms of updates and driver uninstall and reinstall.

The laptop is quite old, so maybe it's just dead, but I'm hoping it isn't. I'm on Windows 10.

Any advice?

(I've ordered a $25 camera from Amazon in the meantime. Honestly, I wouldn't care, but my damn Finance class has a browser locker and requires a webcam to record me during tests. So, yea. Kinda need a webcam.)

I think the built-in ones are difficult to repair/replace. They're essentially part of the monitor. Just get an external.

For me it started yesterday. But it’s been failing quite a lot.

I had issues with both the site not loading or threads not loading both Tuesday and yesterday. Tuesday was worse.

It’d be cool if this site were important enough to be a target of a DDOS or DOS attack, but I figured the server needed to be rebooted?

Anyone ever used one of the website builders for a e-commerce shop? Got a friend doing some exploratory stuff and he asked for my opinion. Basically he's looking for something that will let him have an e-commerce portion to go with the brick and mortar.

I know a lot of places make this pretty easy, but just wondering if anyone has done it before and if there are certain products to avoid. Wix and Squarespace seem to be the best for smaller business, but each has pros and cons.

The best thing to do is to hire someone to build a Wordpress website with a WooCommerce suite of extension (depending on what he wants to do). I mean, I'm pretty sure Wix and Squarespace take cut from your business at the payment processing level, which is LOL as [bleep].

Whatever you want your web presence to look like, a qualified web designer can make it happen with WP. So long as your friend has decent credit, he can get a payment processor to facilitate cc payments, too.

Forgot to add: you need to pay for web hosting too. Still, WP buries Wix or Squarespace - unless he's just a hobbyist looking to kill time.

Thanks for that. Definitely knew he needed to pay for hosting and domain. And yeah the easiest ones definitely take a cut and that was part of why I asked. That isn’t ideal. I’ll do a bit more research but this is great info. Appreciate it!

Another option is Magento, but WP is more popular. I can offer input on web hosting too (SiteGround is really good, and don't sleep on Black Friday sales later this month either)...

Using Edge as my browser and I must have picked up some malware, as it changed by search engine to Yahoo!. Amazing how horrible Yahoo! Search is. Anyways, went into settings to set my default browser, and I get a list with Yahoo, Bing, and 20 Google options, but the google options all have a Yahoo logo and the url starts with "mobility-search.com". I tried adding Google as an option, but it won't let me select the real Google on the pulldown despite appearing in the list in settings.

I feel stupid for not figuring this out on my own, but since I failed there, I’ll ask youse guys.

What setting on my iPhone 13 do I have to activate so that the voice on the Google maps app will come on and give me verbal instructions as I drive toward the destination? (Used to work that way for me, but no longer does.)

Dunno. In waze there is a setting in the app itself, nothing to do with the phone settings, to mute it or have turn by turn directions or just alerts. I always just have it turned off.

And then there’s whatever you use to connect to to the car if you want the audio piped in there.

Any way to work with a shared Google Drive folder in the Mac Finder? Like I have Google Drive installed and can access my own stuff but if I get an email invitation to a shared folder I can only access it via browser... gotta be a way to get it in the Finder I would think.

Ok so let's say you're familiar with Google Drive and already have it installed. Someone invites you to a shared folder and you're notified via email, you click the 'open' button in the email and it opens a browser where you can see the folder and it's contents. However, that folder doesn't automatically appear in my Google Drive through my desktop/finder. There's gotta be a way to add it, right?

ETA: figured it out... in the browser interface drag the folder into the 'My Drive' folder and it creates a shortcut

So I've been using Google Sheets for the past 18 months to track the music I've been listening to, but when I went in today to add the last few new albums I've downloaded, there's nothing there. I went to the app on my phone and for a second it was there, but when the screen refreshed, it was gone. Am I SOL?

EDIT: FOUND IT!

That's how I've done it every year from 2012-2021, but thought I'd start tracking it differently last year. What I forgot is that I didn't like Google Sheets and moved it to another place. Phew, indeed.

Is this like quick notes of a new band/song you liked or a literal tracking of what you listen to?

Tracking of which new albums I've listened to by year and also tracking when I try to go through random artists' discographies.
