2014 Trivia Calendar Game
So each year louthegiantrat and I buy a page-a-day calendar and ask each other trivia. The person who wins the year (currently longest streak of correct answers in a row) wins a haiku about calendar picking prowess and cooked dinner. Figured I would bring some of that joy to the Swamp. So I will post the question (although it is page a day, it sometimes gets bulked up a few days) and do my best to keep score in some fashion for first correct answer. Also, regardless of what the correct answer, whatever the answer is on the calendar is what is used (there have been some "Moops" each years)

Re: 2014 Trivia Calendar Game
Was he behind bars because he shot a man in Reno (just to watch him die)?
Who knows? Maybe, you were kidnapped, tied up, taken away and held for ransom.

Sid Vicious.
"beautiful, with an exotic-yet-familiar facial structure and an arresting gaze."
Re: 2014 Trivia Calendar Game
I have a counter question.
Who threw a bachelor party for his medical school roommate in the same suite at the Chelsea Hotel where Mr. Vicious allegedly administered the fatal heroin injection to his paramour, Nancy? Hint--one of the party favors was a tank of nitrous, removed from the hospital under cover of a softball equipment bag.
(The stripper gets really bummed out when she gets less attention than a tank of nitrous. Bet you didn't know that.)

Did you get the "Celebrity Jeopardy Question a Day Calendar"?
You know what you need? A lyrical sucker punch to the face.
Re: 2014 Trivia Calendar Game
Here is what we are playing
Louthegiantrat and I have had this page-a-day thing going on for maybe 10 or 12 years now. We have tried them all (there really are not that many page a day trivia calendars). Jeopardy is pretty good, the ESPN one last year was just not a good one (lots of poorly written questions and answers that were wrong or dated...but they also got the date of the Jewish holidays wrong on it too). The Mensa calendar was too easy for louthegiantrat and some questions did not translate well into an email (number layout questions). We also try to pick something that varies the topics. Nothing worse than 365 days of trivia on a single topic (i.e. New York Yankees trivia or such).
One of the interesting things is to see what ads gmail starts to put next to the trivia threads.

Didn't get the above until I went to write the answer.
At least that was a good question. If they ask "which rapper was killed in Vegas?" or whatever again I'm starting my own Swamp calendar.

Don't get your hopes up too high. It is a long year and the calendar has not shown the skills for promotion from short season rookie ball.Gunpowder wrote:Didn't get the above until I went to write the answer.

Re: 2014 Trivia Calendar Game
You know that's the right answer because Marv had an older brother that also played in the bigs! Anyway, Van Lingle Mungo isn't the correct answer.
