I went to a BBQ spot here and while talking to the owner said "who would get turkey when you have brisket, ribs, pork..." Guy's face lit up and said, trust me, the turkey is amazing. He threw a slice of turkey on my sampler platter, and holy fuck, it was amazing! I don't think I ever ordered the turkey, because brisket, pork and ribs, but I would never knock someone for ordering it now.

Giff, I am so jealous looking at that picture.
Which spot?

Besides the oven Turkey on thanksgiving, I do a smoked breast every year and i have to hide some so I can enjoy it on the-friday-after-thanksgiving sammies that might be even better than thanksgiving dinner. Good smoked Turkey or chicken is as good as smoked pork.

There, I said it.

I brush it with melted butter and then get a good good rub with sage. garlic, ground pecan, rosemary, brown sugar and other shit like that. I have a pit barrel cooker so I get to hang the breast for the cook.

Most people want that more than they want roasted dark meat.

Why aren't BLTs considered breakfast sandwiches rather than lunch/dinner? Inclusion of veggies? Exclusion of egg?

Lack of eggs, I'd say.

Was gonna bump the NNJ thread, but someone give me a good rec for a place in downtown Summit for a mid-afternoon bite/drink. My wife is off for Thank You Johnnie Day and headed there for a hair appointment and I have a plethora of PTO days left so I'm going to take the afternoon off and ruin her vibe.

1. Does this mean egg salad should be a breakfast sandwich?

2. Summit is one of those downtowns that has a lot of options until you start looking at the individual options and end up at the goddamn Office again. The new brewery there is fine enough but no food. There's a new mexican place with a truly infuriating name (Bar Bacoa) that seems like it should be in a great spot but that's turned over 2 or 3 times since we moved here.

3. Its possible your wife and I went to the same hair place until my person left mid-pandemic and I followed.

The comedian Gallagher was credited for using the joke in his act ("Why do you park in the driveway and drive on the parkway?") in the St. Louis (MO) Post-Dispatch on November 5, 1984. Gallagher probably helped to popularize the line.

And yeah, a late/light lunch.

George Wallace. Possibly the best Twitter follow.

I went into the office yesterday and my wife had her booster, so we decided to eat at a place we haven't had a chance to in a while. We split a crunchy chicken salad sandwich and each had a cup of lemongrass soup. Almost makes me want to go into the office more often.

There’s a joint in my town where the wife and daughter and I occasionally have breakfast. The daughter always gets a BLT. The place is called The Office. I think I’ve also been there for a beer with Sybian and Giff (separately).

I've weirdly dipped out of Icarus in the past year or so. Not even sure why since I like most of what I've historically had from them.

I enjoyed it, but just one because 2021 has seen my tolerance regress from pandemic highs. Probably a good thing.

Salon somehow lost my wife’s reservation so she didn’t even get that done (she was just going for a “blow out”).

Get back in, Icarus is awesome. I love their “heavily oated” NEIPAs. Also love their use of brux yeast in a few IPAs. (The high attenuation rate of brux gives a crisp, dry character). They put out a lot of fun, creative beers, too.

Oh yeah, I was really fucking drunk by the time we got there, but that place is a million times better than the NJ restaurant chain with the same name. Though I haven’t actually been in one of the NJ places in 15 years. I need another trip to the Bay Area. Really miss it. Really miss traveling.

I think it looks glorious, but I also would be slightly scared of the coffee because I tried something similar at it wasn't great. Granted, I do not own a restaurant.

Because you didn't like the taste of coffee included in the rub or because it wasn't ground fine enough?

THe rub I had was a port/coffee combination that didn't work for me. THe smell was strange and I think that affected the whole bite.
