Baby kale is way better than regular kale. Not bitter.

Tomorrow’s lunch will be tonight’s dinner which is manwich and for which you cannot shame me. I like it.

I made ground turkey soft tacos last night and it would be hard to argue the meat isn’t like 85% the same. It’s a big time craving food.

(This looks incomplete if I don’t mention I used tomato paste, so similar flavors but less sweet.)

Texture, lack of flavor, no fatty goodness. Plain roasted turkey kinda boring unless accompanied by thanksgiving bounty. Plain grilled steak kinda outstanding with nothing at all.

I’m still eating Thanksgiving for lunch most days. And my wife made some great soup with the rest of the turkey.

When not making burgers I use pretty lean ground beef and of course it gets drained. I think turkey gets a bit drier, but I have done manwich with turkey before. It's fine. I prefer burger but turkey is fine. Needs a bit more salt.

Sometimes having an all leftover lunch results in interesting flavors. Black beans, pan-fried tilapia, Thai red curry sauce, jalapeno peppers, green onions and spinach all in a bowl. It's quite wonderful.

If it makes you feel any better, my wife - who also works from home - reheated a fish sandwich in the toaster oven. That generated more of an aroma than my big bowl o' leftovers.

Chicken tenders from a local sports bar down the road. They beer batter them like fish more than a real heavily floured tender. They are great.

Had a SW chicken salad at a joint in Harwich on the Cape. It was fucking delicious BUT they put olives on it. Which was... a) not advertised on the menu and b) fucking gross.

We picked it out and snarfed. It was a good salad, and we were in the middle of biking the Cape Code Rail Trail and it was an awesome part of a great day.

Then we went to Wellfleet for Second Lunch and had oysters and shrimp bang bang. And it was fucking awesome.

That reminds me I bought a bottle of $13 olives at the farmers market last summer because the girl working the booth was exceptionally hot. Expensive way to find out she had a bf. Still sitting in my cupboard unopened.

Oh fuck. Assuming she was home you were within 50 feet of my godmother today. Her "house" is right up against the bike trail. That's a great ride.

What shop in Harwich?

The Seal Pub & Cafe. Brilliant little joint with an awesome patio and spaced tables.

A recent addition to Costco's prepared food in the refrigerated section is chicken street tacos. We've gotten them twice and they're pretty darn good, or at least good enough that I wish they would sell just the meat instead of the package with tortillas, shredded cheese, shredded cabbage, etc.

Just made a pastrami sammy with local caraway rye I got at the farmers market, sharp cheddar, roasted peppers and onions and whole grain mustard. I don't think today can get much better than that sammich.

Went to my local Jew-ish (their way to write it, not mine) for a half corned beef sandwich $8 plus tax, and I decided to tip $3 because, why not, COVID. My to go bag had two $5 off cards for my next visits.

We got a Hello Fresh order this week. My daughter has decided to eat (and exercise) like a normal person during Covid, which is was putting a strain on mom and myself... Hard to whip up a three piece meal every night during the week.

Anyways, first meal was firecracker meatballs with Jasmin rice and green beans. Delicious. Just had the leftovers and the dipping sauce was even better after sitting overnight.

We've been ordering it on and off during Covid and have to say, their stuff is pretty good.

We tend to rotate around with whatever service is offering a good deal, but Hello Fresh consistently has the best options and the quality is high.

If I understand it correctly, these kind of services deliver ingredients for you to cook your dinner? Is that right?

Is it that hard to buy your own groceries and use your own recipe? (Serious question)
