Never had a 100 catch season.

Jesus, he never had an 80 catch season. Shocked at how unimpressive his stats are. I know passing yards weren't what they are today, but he only made first team Pro Bowl once in his 14 year career. He led the league in receiving yards twice, but even cracked the top 5 in receptions, never led the league in TD receptions, and never finished as the #1 fantasy WR in any season. Yes, the page I looked at listed what players fantasy rankings would have been if fantasy existed. No idea what scoring rules they used. How the F did he get into the HoF? Because he was the best white receiver? I think longevity is given too much weight. Sure, a guy like Terrell Davis doesn't get in because his career ended too early, but a better than average guy with a super long career shouldn't get in. I know when Vinny Testaverde retired, actually every time he retired, there was talk about him having a shot at the Hall. Playing 22 years, most of them mediocre, some horrible, shouldn't merit the conversation. Though I did love him in 1998.

IIRC, Largent held the career receptions, yards, and TD records at the time he retired. Says a lot for how much more pass-oriented the league has become just in the last couple decades.

I wasn't around so I can't comment on Largent. I don't know - it was a completely different game then. If you want to be even more underwhelmed by a Hall of Famer's stats, check out Lynn Swann.

Perhaps, and that would make sense, given that Art Monk had the first post-merger 100-catch season in 1984.

This may be slightly apocryphal due to my abridged retelling . . . Harden had some games earlier hit Largent (illegally), concussed and IR'd him, and was fined $5000. Supposedly, after that amazing revenge hit, Largent sent Harden a cheque for $5000 saying they were even.

Holy shit! That was fantastic. I didn't really see it on the live shot, but on the replay, I laughed out loud. What a hit.

Everybody knows that Wrigley Field was the last non-new ballpark to add lights. At what stadium was the first MLB night game held?

Wiki says that a fuckton of countries qualify as a correct answer to this question.

Weird. I worded it differently after I thought Wiki told me that this was the only one. Let me go back to the original wording.

This has to be some country whose appearances are largely ceremonial and who never really has even a puncher's chance, right? Like the British Virgin Islands.
